Howdy, Alfa 183 families from a Uniform 182 mom. It has been quite the ride since my son left for Cape May January 12, but the families and friends of our recruits have made the journey easier.

A Facebook group has been created for you all to get to know each other, encourage one another, and share the joys of your recruits' accomplishments and challenges. The link is http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=379178693384

Enjoy the next few weeks—some days they will seem to last forever, some days they fly right by.

Congratulations on your recruits' decisions to become Guardians. I know they will make you very proud!

Semper Paratus!

Welcome parents, spouses, friends, and family of Alfa 183. I am the proud parent of SR Andrew Stokes of Whiskey 182. They will be graduating March 19th. I encourage you to join the facebook family of your recruits. Our FB family has helped many through a hard emotional journey. It's also fun to compare feelings and funny stories. Good luck on your Journey. I will pray for your recruits that they may keep their heads held high and perservere. Lots of love and well wishes. Annette Stokes

Dear Commander(s) BMC Hampton, BM1 Kruger, and BM2 Thor;

Please extend our congratulations to ALL of the Alfa 183 recruits. Please make sure that our boy, nephew, Ben studies hard, performs the daily maximum amount of physical activity such as sit-ups, push-ups and pull-ups, swims three to 4 days per week and runs at least 6 mile every other day and of course one long run of at least 9-10 miles on Sundays, oh and speed work on Tuesdays to keep up the intensity. He knows what to do on Tuesday’s. We don’t want him to get out of shape while on vacation with you boys and girls out on the Cape.

Have lots of fun on the Cape, wish I was there enjoying all of the festivities with all of you. We love you and are extremely proud of you Ben!

Please convey our encouragement to Ben.

Eternally grateful to our guardians and commanders …
(US) Uncle Scott and (AD) Ante Deborah….So far…….

Hi everyone, I went to the facebook page suggested by Andrae. It was fun to chat with others who have someone in Alpha 183, and some have posted some pics. The group name is USCG Alpha 183 if you want to join in. It would be fun to see pictures of the recruits.

We changed the Facebook page to USCG Alfa 183. Come join us and be sure to join the family and friends page, too at USCG Parents, Family and Friends. It is very exciting to share our thoughts with each other. All of the other companies have pages as well and it is fun to connect with them, too plus you gain a lot of valuable info about graduation, etc.

Welcome aboard! I am the Mom of a Mike182 graduate. (Nov 26-seems like yesterday) The recruits don;t get to see these comments until about week 6 or 7, and only if they take the initiative to look for it online when they get computer privileges. WRITE TO THEM EVERYDAY! My son said "mail" was the highlight of their days/nights/weeks. They all get very close and share news/stories with the entire company. Stay strong, be proud. Any questions, feel free to email me. coastiemombarker@comcast.net
(8 weeks really does fly by after about week 3)

How old is Amberlin? Kenny just graduated for the University of AL. in Dec. He is 24...so maybe they're close to the same age.....Go ALFA 183

MomDog said...

Amberlin is 28, I think the other females are calling her grandma. Thanks for asking Bette. I'm trying to figure out how to use the facebook blog. This one is easier. She's the company Historian and photographer, so I'm hoping she actually gets to see these posts.

Hey Alfa families -
We have a video posted of their off base run from today. If you would like to see go on Facebook to the USCG Parents, Family and Friends page. It is an open page so you can look. There is also an Alfa page called USCG Alfa 183 if you want to talk to other parents and families of Alfa recruits. Go look at the video and find your coastie!
