CONGRATS H181! SOUNDS LIKE YOU ALL ARE WELL ON YOUR WAY TO SERVE AND PROTECT OUR COUNTRY AND MAKE MANY PROUD. KALE, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. YOU ARE GOING TO ARRIVE HOME A MUCH STRONGER MAN THAN YOU LEFT OUT..PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY. I CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU AND GIVE YOU THE HUG I'VE BEEN SAVING FOR WEEKS NOW. I MISS YOU. MORE LETTERS ARE COMING SOON BABE.
Wes - we are excited to read that you and H181 are on the way to a great future. Keep up the great work and we will see you soon. Can't wait to hear from you and find out where you will be stationed. More letters will be coming. Hope you have a great Easter - Don't forget what Easter is all about! We are very proud of you. WE LOVE YOU and MISS YOU!!!
I was very disappointed to read Juliets posting. It was horrible to repeatedly hear about the failing of "a certain recruit." It sounds like a lot of animosity to me. I really hope your group comes together and provides support so all of you come thru this as a team. Instead of discussing the failings of one, hopefully next week we will hear about the success of all.
I too was disappointed by Juliet 181’s posting today. It is unfortunate for Juliet 181 to have a historian who is so critical of those he considers less than deserving to be there. I am sure every mother and father of a recruit in Juliet 181 is “reading” their son or daughter into the author’s derogatory comments of the few who are finding boot camp challenging. While the author may or may not be doing well physically at Cape May, he has much to learn about team work and pulling together to accomplish a mission. Hopefully, the author will drop his criticism of his fellow shipmates and find a way to help them achieve success so they can all graduate as a company. Maybe the author would be well served in watching the scene in “An Officer and a Gentleman” when Richard Gear, in Navy Boot Camp, gives up a shot at an individual Navy record in the running of the obstacle course only to help a fellow struggling recruit complete the course to graduate with the team and remain in the military.
I too was disturbed by J181's journal entry. I don't think it is fair that one person is being singled out when they are supposed to become a unified group. Perhaps the author should rethink his furure postings with parents and loved ones in mind. I certialy do not want to go though a week, as if they aren't long enough, thinking that my other (and most of the time better) half is not succeeding. I think it would be better for the author to focus on the success and improvement of J181. As for the families and friends, we all share common ground, the love of our coasties. We all want them to do well. Good luck J181!!! I love you Pete!! With Love, Alyssa
WOOO HOOOOO E181!! Can't wait to see you on Friday. Ian (and everyone else) - it's been an exciting and emotional eight weeks. Words cannot begin to describe how proud we are of all of you. Headed to Cape May in the morning!! P.S. Yes your mom is going to cry, but it's okay. Tears of joy!
Wow, I had to go back and read Juliet-181's journal (I've only been reading Foxtrot-181's since my husband is in that company). I have to say that in my eyes the recruit who is writing the journal is lacking just as much as the recruits who aren't getting some other things that they deem important. Obviously they do not understand the concept of being a team and helping their teammates instead of putting them down. Grow up is all I want to say to the company historian, and also, if you need to be taken down a few notches I'll be happy to do it next Friday when I'm at my husband's graduation...
I have to agree with the previous posters, J-181's blog is not the uplifting, rewarding blog that the other companies have posted. I don't want to see it is all wine & roses, it shoudn't be. However, to be that critical of the weak or ill prepared is just as poor saemanship. Anything at anytime can trip up even the most squared away Coastie-to-be. There have been many very fine Coasties that got reverted in boot camp and couldn't tell left from right when they first got there. They got it together and have/had fabulous careers.
I hope the historian doesn't run into trouble during his/her time there. Speaking as he/she has I don't see much support for that person should they falter and need their shipmates.
To the rest of J-181, it's tough, it was only week 02, you'll get it, believe in yourself, have strength and we'll see you in the fleet in no time.
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK H181!! KALE, I AM SUPER EXCITED FOR YOU GETTING THE HONOR OF CARING OUR NATIONAL FLAG AT GRADUATION. I SEE YOU ARE HARD AT WORK GIVING YOUR ALL!! KEEP UP THE GREAT PACE BABE! I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU GRADUATE. I AM SOOOO READY FOR YOUR RETURN. ITS NICE TO HEAR YOURE DOING SO WELL. KEEP MAKING US ALL PROUD. I MISS U BUNCHES :)

Juliet 181. Keep your head held high along with all of your loved ones. The strongest teams in the world have fought through adversity. You will overcome and be great. Thank you for your service. I look forward to seeing a united strong group come May 15.
Journals are posted to USCGBOOTCAMP by close of business every Tuesday. The first journal for each company is posted in week three of training.
If a journal entry is not posted, it means one of two things, the company is in week one or two of training or the Web master did not receive a submission.
The journals were created to provide family and friends with a peek into the lives of their recruits. The recruit historians try to document the experiences of the company not individual recruits.
We hope you enjoy reading the journals and experiencing Coast Guard Recruit Training through the eyes of our Guardians in the making.
