We got your letter yesterday and of course it sent your Mom into tears of pride. I am so glad to see you are doing well but I was honestly not worried about how you would adapt. You have always been strong and resilient and can reach the highest level in anything you choose to do.
But on another note you should have seen the size of this Bull Shark one of the guys caught here at work. It had to be 7-800 lbs. But the summer bull sharks are just about done so we wont see those catches for awhile. Stay strong ill try to send some pictures if I can get him to part with one.

Well it has officially been 3 weeks since all of H-182 stepped out away from parents and loved ones to become true Heroes. Just this morning there was a story about a Hang glyder that wrecked on the rocky coast of Oregon taht will be able to be with his family again all because of the Coast Gaurd rescue team. I see these stories and it makes me beam with pride that not only my son (SR Woodford) but all the members of H-182 are enduring this painfull 8 weeks just so they can have the privilidge to save lives and protect all of us from harms way. And if you are having difficulties about if its worth it ask the Hang glyders family what they think.

Good luck and have a GREAT week and know that you are all Loved and missed and that each of you have the respect and admiration from evry single one of us.

Hope everything is going well. Haven't got another letter yet. Do I need to send you a pen, paper and stamps. However I am sure you can borrow that from your shipmates. Just kidding I realize you all dont have alot of free time. But we are thinking of you and the rest of Hotel 182. You all keep up the hard work and keep making me and the rest of the parents proud. You are still considered a Coastie to me. You know I am a couch potato on Sundays during football season and Grammy and PAP PAP are going to be here so if you get to do your first phone call we will all be here patiently waiting for it. Hope everything is going well, I am sure it is. I took Jakob yesterday up to the cemetary across for San Jac college. They had put up the traveling Vietnam Memorial wall. It was really impressive. Jake got a hat and I bought a tee shirt. We were walking back across the field to the truck and Jake was teary eyed and he said dang Dad there sure is alot of people that gave there lives for our country. I just said yep because I didnt want to tear up. Your brother is growing up and really is starting to appreciate alot more things that this the people in the services do. We survived the wedding wish you had you been with us. We had Hailey with us all weekend and it was sooooo good to spend time with her. She was great the DD for everyone which was really nice. RECRUIT JOURNALS

Journals are posted to USCGBOOTCAMP by close of business every Tuesday. The first journal for each company is posted in week three of training.

If a journal entry is not posted, it means one of two things, the company is in week one or two of training or the Web master did not receive a submission.

The journals were created to provide family and friends with a peek into the lives of their recruits. The recruit historians try to document the experiences of the company not individual recruits.

We hope you enjoy reading the journals and experiencing Coast Guard Recruit Training through the eyes of our Guardians in the making.
