RECRUIT JOURNALS
Journals are posted to USCGBOOTCAMP by close of business every Tuesday. The first journal for each company is posted in week three of training.
If a journal entry is not posted, it means one of two things, the company is in week one or two of training or the Web master did not receive a submission.
The journals were created to provide family and friends with a peek into the lives of their recruits. The recruit historians try to document the experiences of the company not individual recruits.
We hope you enjoy reading the journals and experiencing Coast Guard Recruit Training through the eyes of our Guardians in the making.
This is an official United States Coast Guard posting for the Public's information.
Our posting does not endorse this site or anything on it, including links to other sites,

Good Afternoon Friends and Family of Tango 183,
My name is Senior Chief Petty Officer Steve Carleton, I, along with Ensign Lindsay Cook are the Company Mentors for Tango 183.
This past weekend, we met them for the first time, and answered questions about life in the Coast Guard.
They are all eager to get through training and begin their Coast Guard careers. Right now they are adjusting to life in boot camp and having to figure out how to work together as a team.
Through some one-on-one "attention" with the Company Commanders, it will all come together.
Our next visit to Cape May is the weekend of Aug 13 and will pass along your words of encouragement. By that time, they will have received their orders and we are preparing for a barrage of questions about their individual units and what they will expect.
In the meantime, keep the letters coming, they all appreciate receiving mail and hearing about things at home.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact me via e-mail at Stephen.j.carleton@uscg.mil

Dear Family & Friends of Tango 183:
There is a great Facebook page for you to post questions, comments or pics about your Coastie. Also, there are lots of pics taken by families each Friday during the graduation ceremonies and posted there. It's great to "see" the recruits marching. They're looking awesome! Come join us! Family and Friends of Tango 183,
This past weekend, Ensign Cook and I went up for our second visit with the company.
We had the opportunity to sit and have meals with them as well as answer their many questions about their units. We printed out the many comments you left on this blog and handed them off to the recruits. Keep posting and sending letters, the recruits are eager to hear from you about home.
On Saturday, the company tackled the obstacle course. You can see photos on the Tango 183 Facebook page.
On Sunday, we had the pleasure of going on an off base run with Tango through the streets of Cape May. The recruits looked good and sounded good. You can see video of your recruits on the Parents Facebook Page.
All of the recruits are looking forward to graduation in a few short weeks.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will do my best to answer your questions.
