Thank you for the facebook page. I'm sure this will be a tough holiday season for everyone who has a loved one in boot camp. Being able to follow their accomplishments and share stories with other coastie moms will surely help the days to graduation go by quickly.

Hello Sierra families. This is Petty Officer Second Class Axel A. Narvaez, my wife is now SR Narvaez in Sierra 182. I am a 9 year Navy Veteran working for the Marines as a Hospital Corpsmen or Fleet Marine Force Doc. I'm 75% Marine and 25% Sailor but my uniform says U.S. Navy. I love serving my country and I'm so proud... of my wife joining the Coast Guard. Unfortunately I'm not going to be present for her graduation due to the fact that I'm going on my fourth combat deployment to the Middle East starting December 29. I'm proud of joining the Sierra family and if you see my wife SR Narvaez on January 22 please let her know how much I love her and how proud I am of having her as my wife. My salute goes to all Sierra Recruits and families, thank you for your service and God Bless You!

My son is SR Lucas Usticke and I am so proud of him but definitely missing his presence in our home! He is such a comedian and there's been a lot less laughter with him gone. I’m thinking it’s going to be a long eight weeks, but I’m sure it will be even longer for him! Thanks for the information on the blog for moms, coastiemombarker. I’m going to have to check that out next!

you guys blogging on this just remember to never write anything dumb because the company commanders read these blogs all the time an they read your names, your son or daughter or whoever will get worked hard if you write anything or put any dumb pics on here of your recruit, i went though boot camp a little over a year ago....as for the post cards, they are givin 4 hours on sunday morning after breakfast to make sure there racks are squared away, go to church, iron there uniforms, an polish there boots..so alot of the time they dont have time to write home for the first couple weeks unless they manage there time very well, i was able to write home atleast 4 front and back pages every sunday to my parents and sister but some choose not to write back just because they dont want to be thinkin about home and crying all the time.... the first couple of weeks are the hardest, an the hardest letters to hear will come home...i come on here often so if you have any questions just post them up......

Doc Narvaez said...

Good morning Sierra 182!

Keep working hard and don't forget that success in life is a matter not so much of talent or opportunity as of concentration and perseverance.

It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.

To my wife Armaris, Baby don't forget I'm right there with you pushing the push ups, cranking the sit ups, and running the miles. If I get stronger you get stronger, if you get stronger I get stronger.
TE AMO and I miss you.

I received a postcard from Tommy. It was good to hear from him. He's doing great and working hard! I read on FB that we all should write, write, write to our recruits, even if they don't write back. They are busy but the most important thing is to keep the letters coming. So, letter #4 has gone out this morning for Tommy. We are all so proud and after reading Imports4life's comments, we know our recruits are learning incredible things and are going to come out of this strong and proud to be a Coast Guardsman!

We heard from our son Keith today, he is very proud to be in the Coast Guard and we are so proud of him for his dedication to our country. We are looking forward to seeing Keith at graduation and meeting all of our new Coastie family members!

Have not heard from SR Whitson yet, but have every faith he's focused on doing an admirable job and know he's in very capable hands with his CC. He has also has the spiritual guidance of his own guardian angel - his late father who served in the military and was an amazing influence on both our sons. Dave, your brother and I are very, very proud of the courageous path you've taken.

Well, I got my first letter, other than the post card. It was mailed on Monday and I recieved it today. He is doing well but needs encouragement. He obviously hasn't gotten any of our letters. We have written at least 10 so far between all of us. I'm concerned about that and wonder why. I'm assuming it takes 4 days to get there but we started writing right away, as soon as we got the address....is anyone else having this problem? I really hope that he got them all after he sent his letter. That will make him happy. He said it's tough but he knew that and I think he's going to do great! We love you Tommy...keep up the good work. We are all so proud of you...love always and forever, Mom, Rob, Cait and Rocky :)

Do you think they can read these posts?

Happy New Year Sierra Families! I hope by now, everyone has received the call from your recruit regarding their first duty station.

Hi Tommy and Hugo! Tommy, I am so sorry I missed your call today. I was at work but Rob called me as soon as you hung up and gave me the news. I immediately googled Kodiak, Alaska and what a beautiful place, to say the least! The weather isn't as harsh as other places in Alaska. They say it rains a lot, but you're used to that! You will love it from what all the docs say....and what an experience you will have! I am so proud of you. Everyone says you should be proud of yourself for getting Kodiak. Hugo, I don't know where you got, hopefully Kodiak! That would be cool. But wherever it is, you both are going to do great and get some great experience! We can't wait to see you both.

Rocky is doing great! He is so smart. Haven't seen Allie since Christmas but Caitlin said she is doing good. They both are working alot. Allie can't come to graduation because of school so she'll see you when you come home. Derrick won't be able to come to graduation because he can't afford it but will see you when you get home.

I hope you can call next week or email. We love you both so much! Keep up the good work. Time will fly by and we'll be there in no time. Keep the faith and remember, God will not ever give you anything that you cannot handle.

Love always and forever Mom & Roby D.

Hey SR Sohn, heard the great news of your first duty station. I know it has always been your dream to go to Alaska. Semper Paratus! My crew is really excited for you. BM2 told us some about the Munro and its celebrity status and Kathy says every Coastie she knows who has been to Alaska say it has been their favorite duty station. You will be steps ahead getting some sea time early in your career. I started the holidays in Kings Bay and wraping it up here on the Gulf Coast. Cincinnati is reporting colder than Kodiak right now. Ben says he loves Kodiak Cameras :) Maybe you could pick one up for him at the factory outlet. Hope you liked the Christmas Card!!!

I was looking at a you-tube video of a boat captain that was saved by joint efforts of the Navy(USS Eisenhower) and the USCG on Jan 2 of this year. He was alone, in the dark, huge waves, high winds, fearing that no one could save him but you did. Nice work, you guys are heroes. Thanks for preparing to save us!

Hi Sierra Families....Gosh, can you believe it? We are nearly there. We can't wait to meet everyone. It has been a long road but with everyones support, it was so much easier! I do have to say that Tommy said, when he called over the weekend, that our posts were only posted one time. He has not seen any recent posts. I'm so sorry for that. I think that if they are going to post once, they should continue... it is such a moral booster. But, my opinion only.

Tommy and Hugo....keep up the good work! We all are so proud of you both. We are proud of all of Sierra 182! Mom, Roby D. and Caitlin ~

Tommy, I love you with all my heart ~ Mom

Hello families, my son just left today to Cape May out of San Diego. Any advise or help you can pass on? It is hard to look that far ahead, but I know he will do great.

Thank You

*cgwife* said...

Just wanted to mention that as far as the blogs being posted...one downside of that is that everyone is not included- not even 1/3rd of them. And if there are 85 recruits and only 10 or 15 have messages instead of boosting morale it could do the opposite. They all would be looking at it hope fully and many would feel let down. It is important for them to stay focused and keep their head in the game:)

Anonymous said...

so true cgwife...you're right.

Tommy & Hugo, can you believe in just 10 days, you'll graduate? We are so proud and looking forward to seeing you both. Congratulations to all of Sierra 182! Keep up the team work!
