Operation Fireside

Good Morning Family and Friends of D184, E184, F184, and G184 -

Your recruits will have the opportunity to participate in a community program, called Operation Fireside, this Thanksgiving.

Operation Fireside began in 1981 and is sponsored by the American Red Cross in Cape May and the training center. This event provides members of the community an opportunity to spend time with our newest Guardians and brings a sense of fellowship and caring to these young men and women, many of whom are away from home for the first time.

We would like to thank our Operation Fireside hosts in advance for opening their homes to our Guardians during the holidays.

Thank you so much Operation Fireside for taking my special recruit and daughter Allyson Feller in. I know she is looking forward to it. She said it makes being away from home so much easier and going with 2 of her newest friends will be like being with her sisters too. :)
I know God will bless you for this special service you are providing these special young men and women. Again, thank you so much!

My family and I enjoyed participating in this program for many years. It was always such a blessing to have those that were dedicating themselves to our country share a meal and love on a holiday. We have been fortunate enough to stay in touch with a few of the men who passed through our lives, and have become very close with them as a "family". I just want to say Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless to all, and I hope that every recruit finds a warm home to go to for the day! Relax and Enjoy!

I would like to thank Operation Fireside for taking in my husband on Thanksgiving Day. It is very hard for us to be apart being that we just got married 3 months ago. I know this means the world to him. This is his first Thanksgiving away from home and I know, thanks to Operation Fireside it will be a memorable one. I hope that one day him and I can return the favor to a new recruit near us.
Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Thank you so much for participating in Operation Fireside. Hearing my son's voice and receiving a picture of him in his uniform was the greatest gift I could have ever gotten. I am so thankful. He got to be connected with his family on this special day through the efforts of his adopted family. I will be checking with Fort Benning to see if they need sponsors for any Army recruits.
