Are you interested in reading about recruit training?

USCG Training Center Cape May, N.J., the only recruit training center for the United States Coast Guard, is encouraging recruits in training to document their experiences while in boot camp. The submissions are written every Sunday during personal hours and then posted on Monday's to www.uscgbootcamp.com. Is this something you would be interested in reading?

RECRUIT JOURNALS
Journals are posted to USCGBOOTCAMP by close of business every Tuesday. The first journal for each company is posted in week three of training.
If a journal entry is not posted, it means one of two things, the company is in week one or two of training or the Web master did not receive a submission.
The journals were created to provide family and friends with a peek into the lives of their recruits. The recruit historians try to document the experiences of the company not individual recruits.
We hope you enjoy reading the journals and experiencing Coast Guard Recruit Training through the eyes of our Guardians in the making.
This is an official United States Coast Guard posting for the Public's information.

Yes I am. Welcome to the block let me know if I can help in any way.
This is a great idea and definitely helps the recruits' loved ones back at home stay connected to what's going on. Thank you for starting this blog, and I look forward to reading more.
Thank you !
Yes, this a great way to keep in step with our recruits. keep it up. Can you tell me what hall LIMA 180 is in please.
Thanks
It's great to get a first person account of what it's like to go through such a lihe changing experience. I look for ward to reading more. It will help family members understand what the recruits went through and accomplished once they graduate.
Thank you so much for the information, with my son new to the center as of this week it helps me appreciate what he and all the other SR's are going through- Keep up the good work - good luck with rest of your stent. Will all of the companies be tracked he is in M-180?
Hello! I think this is a great idea. My son will be heading to Cape May on Tuesday. This is great for family to keep up and for recruits to know what is going on. I am going to definately show this site to my son. Thanks for allowing me to share!
Hi. I wanted to answer a few questions that have been posted. First thank you for the positive feedback; I'll work to make the site user friendly and informative.
Roadglide: Lima company is in Healy Hall.
krisrdh: yes, we're going to include all the companies in the next few weeks. We're also going to feature the company commanders for each company and include spotlights from other members that work here on the training center.
We are Grandparents of a young lady from Ma. who reported to the Training Center 23 Sept. and we really appreciate this site to keep up on news for the 8 weeks. Can you tell me what hall M180 is in? Will Mi=180 be posting updates by any chance? Many Thanks, Bill & Carole G. in Port St. Lucie, Fl.
Hello our Jon son is also in Mike - 180. we are from Akron, OH.
We received a letter today from the training center this morning explaining what is going on.
Would love to get an email circle together with other family members of M180. My email is: kriscarbone@sbcglobal.net
Let's keep all informed.
Thanks much...we are so proud of Jon
as well as your love ones!
Yes! Love this. It really has helped to set my mind at ease a bit. It would be great to read about the other companies. It would also be great if there were pictures of the various companies during training. How much fun it would be to browse the photos and try to find your son or daughter.
Thank you for this...it really is great!
A few people have asked for the address for Mike 180. Here it is:
SR (first and last name)
RECRUIT COMPANY MIKE 180/HEALY HALL
USCG TRACEN CAPE MAY
ONE MUNRO AVE
CAPE MAY NJ 08204-5083
I would be very interested!
This is great. I'm looking forward to reading about the new recruit curriculum and how much Cape May has changed in the last 10 years.
I think it's a great idea. Information is so helpful. I've been to CG boot camp, hubby's been to CG boot camp and I wrote a 3-part story for the newspaper about CG bootcamp, but now I'm the mom of a current recruit, and I feel like I don't know ANYTHING about boot camp! For parents, this is an awesome resource. I'd love to hear from any I-180 parents!
This is so good, not sure who had this idea, but I know I will be able understand a bit more when my son comes home.
Great training. Is Lima 180 going to have info posted soon?
Great work all... I can tell by the comments here that this fills a need...
I had a chance to visit for a recent graduation; y'all are doing great work and your senior leaders are taking you down the right path. Use of these tools is going to become more and more paramount as the months and years go by. TRACEN Cape May is certainly stepping out.
Any help I can provide (either informally or through my day job), let me know.
For readers, know that over at AN UNOFFICIAL COAST GUARD BLOG (which is unofficial, as the name implies), we had a recruit blog by snail mail. He was real busy, but he was able to make three posts; you can find his posts at http://www.cgblog.org/search/label/by%20Christiaan%20Conover. You can also find his regular blog at http://www.christiaanconover.com/.
Semper gumby. Semper paratus.
Thank you Commander Wong for your kind words.
When I served in the U. S. Coast Guard all of the units I served on had outstanding chow. Units like CGAS Barbers Point HI, USCGC Reliance, SK School at TRACEN Govenors Island, NY. wow even the Tracen at Cape May had some great meals too.
Might be nice to see if the current recruits like the chow?
You all have some good eating to look forward to after you graduate from boot camp and are assinged at your schools or operating units. Keep up the good work we are all proud of you.
Plus maybe your mom and dads might get a kick about what your eating there?
Yes,this is a great way to keep up with what is going on before the letters start coming home. Keep up the good work and best to all.
Aloha to Juliet 180 and esprcially my son. I just found out he is going to Kodiak where he does have a Coast Gurad family already there! I am so happy and proud of him. Proud for all the men and women serving in the USCG.
I am praying for all safety and health.
God's Blessings to all of you at USCG TRACEN.
any word about Lima-180. I have seen nothing from them yet???
This is awesome! It is so helpful especially on those days when things aren't so easy. Love it, Love it, Love it....Thank you!
Is L-180 going to be doing any updates?
Our son just entered training as part of November-180 last week and we came across this blog a few days later. What a great idea! We look forward to following along with the company's progress. Thank you!
I got my 1st letter from my son! As promised, he is in need of encouraging. He is in N-180. He's in his 2nd week. They need lots of encouragement! I guess we keep the letters coming til they don't need us anymore.
