Has anyone heard from their Yankee? Or do you know what time they begin liberty? Maybe they are pigging out on junk food first.Ha Ha. My phone is attached to my hip, my questions list and recorder are ready.

majormans said...

We haven't heard anything either! We don't know when they will call! We are glued to our phone too. Hopefully very soon!!

Just got off the phone with my son, he sounded great. Loves bootcamp and has made a ton of new friends. Says they are all very close. He's very excited for to be heading to Florida to his first station. And he said that he does indeed love the food! Best Valentine's Day I've ever had.

PasoJack said...

Just had a wonderful call from our son. Almost an hour!! Very happy and positive. I'm so glad I had a list of questions though and they all got answered. They earned their colors on Tuesday. His good buddy is SR Barnes and SR Winters. He has talked to your son ProudUSGCparents too. They plan on all keeping in touch. He still wants to be a rescue swimmer and has no regrets.

Donnie said...

What kind of questions and answers did you ask/get? Thats if your ALOUD to tell us, wouldn't want to get our yankee's in to TROUBLE!

PasoJack said...

Here's a few..
Report for duty date?
Any health problems?
Anyone else stationed at your location?
What has been the hardest thing?
Any regrets? I liked this answer.. None!
Who do you know, talk to the most?
Has your perception of the CG changed?
We taped the conversation so we could share with all the family and of course so I can hear his voice again :)
He did say their CC's are known to be the hardest of them all and they all feel proud to have achieved what they have done knowing that. He was told to tell us to make his flight arrangements home and they will reimburse him when he gets to his station. So I just booked the same flight and we can all come home together,

We spoke to our son, Marc, yesterday for about 10 minutes during their on base leave. He is one of 4 who earned expert marksman. He asked us what we had found out about the town that he will be going to. He had just received our flight plans in the mail that morning, too late for him to book the same flight, as they had already booked him on a different airline. It's amazing how long the mail is taking to actually get in their hands. But at least we will be able to hear stories in the car on the way to Philly. Yankee 180, you are on the home stretch.... finish strong!

Yesterday's call from our son was the day! It was only for about 10 min. and I savored every minute. We can't wait to see him at graduation. I asked him if he's made any good friends and he said ya! He didn't mention any names but now we know, thank you Paso Jack! We know that he will stationed on the cutter Kukui out of Honolulu. He is very excited!
He did request that while he was home that we didn't fix pancakes or french toast because they have one or the other EVERY day, LOL.
Everyone going to graduation travel safely. We will see you there!
P.S Have any of you moms heard anything about us being able to "Pin" our sons/daughters at graduation. If so, are you?

Keli said...

Santana Jade, From what my husband has been telling me he is good friends with your husband.

PasoJack said...

I think only active military can present our Yankee's with their certificate if they want. I got to pin our son with an eagle scout pin a couple years ago!
Hope they have a great week ahead, they will have uniform inspection, close order drill and finals this week. As well as turn in their pieces and do the challenge obstacle course. Go Yankee's

We thank them for making you strong mentally and physically and bringing out the best in each one of you.

Well I'm guessing our Yankee's are getting just a little excited about all day off base liberty on Saturday! I'm looking forward to heading to Cape May for a little site seeing and the big graduation on Friday. I wrote my last letter today. It seemed strange telling our son by the time he gets this letter and is reading it, we will be in Cape May somewhere. It's so true the days have been long and the weeks fly by.

I thought someone had commented that they had received in the mail the packet the recruits get about their first station? Has anyone received these? Just curious because we haven't and I wanted to let my son know if everyone else has gotten them. Maybe I dreamed that post?? WOW...one week to go, didn't this seem so far away on 1/6/09?? I can not wait to see them all graduate.

PasoJack said...

We have not received anything either. I think I did read something about us getting info on their stations too. We have found quite a bit of info on the internet though. Hoping for a call tomorrow :) for some updates.

Anonymous said...

Leslie, We did receive a package for our son, I will bring it to him when we go to graduation. It was pretty much just info on the town and they put a map in there. I didn't see anything that they would need to have, you can probably find everything on the internet.

Richmond Hill Real Estate said...

My mother (Brett's Grandmother) already has her bag packed! She is praying for no snow or ice. Everyone in our family is getting so excited and now the time is slipping away and there is so much to prepare for since we have learned there are no barracks at Atlantic Beach, NC. Can't wait to meet everyone!

J.R.'sGirl said...

I know the feeling, I'm frantically going through my things deciding on what to take with me for the move. 7 MORE DAYS!!!!! I can't wait for tomorrows phone call! Graduation is right around the corner Yankee-180! Great job!

Uncle Keith says "hang in there, through persistance all things are posible. Just a slight delay.

Keep your eyes on the finish line... keep the faith..

Well we are in Southern Maine and they are forcasting a snow storm Thursday night into Friday, looks like Cape May will be getting rain. My husband plows, I have informed him I don't care what we get for snow, he's going to graduation...end of discussion. Thankfully a friend volunteered to plow for him. My son said he's not taking much to his first station, he'll be living on board he said for at least a month...it will give me time to wean myself off of his 42" wide screen....I have been enjoying the use of that while he's gone! Well good to hear the package isn't something he really needs.

I got a phone call, they have off base liberty until 9:00 tonight. A group of them went to a movie, out to pizza and rented a motel room so they could watch TV. They all are ready for graduation and they sound like they are having a fun day. 5 days to go!!

Karen and Wayne Sprague said...

I got the most awesome phone call this morning :) We finally got to talk with my son :) It was so neat to hear his voice and let him fill us in on all his activities and answer our questions. He sounded great and said he was doing great and had really aquired a lot from his boot camp training. We got to talk for quite awhile. USCGMom, my son also said he, and three of his fellow recruits, had rented a motel room so they could "hang out", make their phone calls, eat pizza and watch movies !!! Maybe our recruits are together, or maybe this is what many of the recruits do. At any rate, it sounded like they all are going to have a great day :)Can't believe there are only 5 days left till graduation. Go Yankee 180

PasoJack said...

Okay, so our son said exactly the the same thing. How great it is to hear from them. He sounded great and said he has benefited from the experience. They also went to have chinese food for lunch and a gentlemen came up to their table of 6 and said "guys thanks for serving our country" don't worry about paying for your meal, I've taken care of it. Then walked out. Wasn't that kind!!

Anonymous said...

OH MY GOSH, That is the sweetest thing! It's bringing tears to my eyes! It is so nice to know that our recruits are so appreciated even by others people besides their family's.

ok i give up ...no matter what i say on here my boyfriend gets yelled at by his cc. i was just being honest but i give up i just wont say anything about the cc's any more. anyways i got a phone call it was really short but it still meant the world to me to talk to him.

J.R.'sGirl said...

I got the longest and most wonderful call today! My fiancé got his wisdom teeth pulled so he didn't get off-base, but he still got liberty and we ended up talking for about 6 hours today! It was so nice because last weekend he hurt his foot so he missed out on that liberty, but i had gotten a 10 minute phone call:)

Leslie said...

We got a few phone calls throughout the day in between eating and the movies. He did say it was strange being off base. He's looking forward to graduation day and even though it's been tough he's glad of his decision and looking forward to what's ahead of him. See you all in less than a week!

Santana Jade said...

yes its supposed to be kind of gross during grad.. fingers crossed though.. im coming from arizona.. its been 80 degrees here, worth it though.

Today was great.. talked to him for awhile.. figuring out moving arrangements and such.. a productive call. Went to the OB office and he got to hear the heart beat of the baby.. super exciting!!!

Nice to hear his voice but it will be better when we see them!!

Go Coast Guard Recruits... from all companies! Graduation is so exciting!

6 More Days for Yankee.. its coming quick but there is still so much to be had!

Richmond Hill Real Estate said...

During the call from my son he expressed how happy is going to be where he will be stationed. We are packing a uhaul for the trip from Richmond Hill, GA to Atlantic Beach, NC (Fort Macon). Everyone is waiting for him to return home...Four of us will be making the trip to graduation so we will be stimulating the economy! My mother does not like to fly
at night or in poor weather.
She is being a very good sport for the weather conditions look like rain and thunder storms.
I am hopeful that we will have an opportunity to meet everyone! Go Yankee 180!

Richmond Hill Real Estate said...

Let's share graduation photos and videos via Facebook Yankee 180

Hopefully, the team can stay close, visit each other and support each other...They can have their own site but this may help let everyone since we won't be able to blog soon!
