An earlier post suggested that the kids may get to read these posts during their
7th week of training or whenever they earn their 8 hrs of free time.

I like coming on here and reading all the encouraging comments family and friends are leaving. It helps to know that there are parents out there dealing with the same issues as we are. (not hearing- not knowing) If anything, I think this site offers just as much moral support to family and friends as it does to the recruits!

Go Yankee 182~ we are all rooting for you!

Got home anticipating a letter..none...Has anyone rec'd any mail from their recruit yet?
Is there a specific week in which they are allowed to write, and I just missed out on that info?

Tanya,
Usually you get the "I'm here" postcard. Then a quick, I'm still here letter. About week 3 they actually earn time to write. Usually only on Sunday. I always stalked the Post Office Thursday/Friday, I'm in Florida and that is how long it took to get to me. Keep sending mail to your recruit. It is instrumental in getting them through. My son said mail day was the best. They all share with each other news from all over the US. Good luck to Yankee 182. Mom of Mike182 graduate. Hang in there everyone. It really will start to fly by. After the 1st phone call you'll be at graduation before you know it!

They have to earn privileges and more than likely they won't be on this blog. Writing letters is the best for them to communicate. Phone calls come later & are short.

This is such an exciting time for you and your recruits. You may want to start a Facebook page for your Yankee 182 group so that you can share pics and stories about your recruits. It's very helpful. There is also a Parents, Families & Friends facebook page for everyone with a Coastie. Good luck, Yankee 182!

Unknown said...

Howdy, Yankee 182 folks! My son is in Uniform 182 and I wanted to second the mom from the last post in encouraging you to start a FB page for your families to bond. It has been an INCREDIBLE experience on the U182 page!

Here is the link for the general "Families" page...Julie Love has done a fabulous job of logging all the new recruit companies...all the current company links are under "links" in the Families group: http://www.facebook.com/posted.php?id=300455634868#!/group.php?v=wall&gid=300455634868

We welcome you all and look forward to "meeting" you on the Families group page! :)

Bryant,
It sounds like you've joined a good group of people. I like the way they keep their journals, lot's of daily info for the families. It's nice to see what you've accomplished together as a unit. Let the guy/girl writing know what an awesome job they're doing! Thinking of you all the time. Oh, Archer is in danger of becoming a blanket again. That fat furball misses you and isn't letting me sleep again! :)

Well, Ben, only two more weeks to go. From your letters it seems you are in with a very good Company. I am happy for you that you have such a good group of guys and gals as your fellow recruits. I have to tell you, though you were very mature when you left, you have grown up quite a bit since I last saw you. Take care of yourself these last two weeks and we look forward to seeing you at graduation. We love you,
