Families of November 183, there is a facebook page for you where you can "meet" other family members and share your encouragement for each other as these weeks pass. Search USCG November 183 on the search line and it will show up. Welcome!

I hope to hear some positive comments from the company commanders in the next blog instead of all the sarcasm and belittling offset by a backhanded and minimal acknowledgment. Remember, the recruits' attitudes, performance, and competancy reflect the leadership modeled to them.

What a difference in the rhetoric! I know the recruit I sent to Cape May was highly motivated, determined, and ready for the challenge. To hear the effort of the group derided as arrogant, too big for britches, and other language that humiliates much more than inspires, made me angry. As a former Coastie I want the leadership of each new Coastie's company to be a person remembered in the years after boot camp as fair, demanding, dependable, and as experienced in developing dynamic, team-oriented recruits as they are in creating a competent Guardian. This week's journal entry reflects just those qualities and the recruits' efforts in response are the kind of payback only mature leadership is privileged to experience. Thanks for stepping up November 183 Chiefs.

Hi Matt,

It was good to talk to you yesterday, you sound very good. Keep up the good work. We enjoy reading the posts for your company, you guys are seem to be improving weekly. Whoever writes your post does a very good job. Remember you guys are going through what all other recruits went through. It will be over in just a few weeks. Keep your head up with a smile on your face, except when the CCs are around, then just smile on the inside.
Love, Mom and Dad
