Yankee 180
Posted by
WWW.USCGBOOTCAMP.COM
We’re in week two of training – the recruits have been making some mistakes, but they’re learning quickly. We are tough company commanders, but we’re fair. Our ultimate goal is to get them to graduation and make sure they’re trained Guardians.
They’re getting accustomed to military life style. The hardest thing for recruits is following orders willing and quickly and moving with a sense of urgency/meeting time objectives.
The biggest obstacle coming up in week three is seamanship and watch standing. Recruits will have to wake up one hour a night and stand a security/fire/podium watch.
It’s going to be a tough eight weeks – we’ll see you at graduation on Feb. 27, 2009.

RECRUIT JOURNALS
Journals are posted to USCGBOOTCAMP by close of business every Tuesday. The first journal for each company is posted in week three of training.
If a journal entry is not posted, it means one of two things, the company is in week one or two of training or the Web master did not receive a submission.
The journals were created to provide family and friends with a peek into the lives of their recruits. The recruit historians try to document the experiences of the company not individual recruits.
We hope you enjoy reading the journals and experiencing Coast Guard Recruit Training through the eyes of our Guardians in the making.

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 327 Newer› Newest»Im so happy to hear something! =) I dont think i saw my boyfriend in there but he was probably in the back somewhere. Thank you for posting it. Its nice to hear what they're doing.
It is great to see the Yankee 180 Team! You look great...fit...ready..and focused.
Looking forward to getting through week three!
We are so very proud!
Finally!! I'm pretty sure I spotted my nephew in the picture. Can't wait to see them all standing so proud at graduation! I booked my ticket today.
So happy to finally hear something!!!
This I'm sure just makes everyones day. I can see my son in the back. Sounds like it's been a tough week for all.
OH, thank you so much for the picture and the update!! You just made my day! I see my son in the first row that is standing, I couldn't have asked for a better picture. I am such a proud Mom and can NOT wait to be at graduation! 42 days! Won't come soon enough for me!
We are so excited about the picture. It has been tough not knowing what they are doing. We can't wait for the weekly postings like they had with all the other companies. Keep the news coming. GO YANKEE 180.
So excited to see the picture annd hear about what you've been doing ! you look wonderful and we're soooo proud of you. Can't wait for more pictures and what you're doing. Thanks for the update.
Just want to say, WE GOT A LETTER, and it was good. Our superson said that it isn't that hard and he was actually having fun.Unfortunatly some shipmates don't pay attention so they enjoy alot of intensive training. As some of you veterans may remember, there is no possible way of doing anything right until at least the fifth or sixth week. They are enjoying there excercise and brisk runs around the base in their shorts and shirts. It almost makes me want to join, but I'm to fat and old so they won't take me.I want say thanks to all of you who jumped in with your support for these great people, you are and will be appreciated. If you check out the first photo of YANKEE 180,our son is the good looking man in the center of the first row with black hair stubbles, BC glasses, and looks like he is ready for a mission. In the past,I talked and my son had to listen.I look forward to the day when my son speaks and I listen with anticipation to hear the latest story of his lifesaving adventures. With the picture alone,I can see this class is focused and ready to move to the next level.Luvya meanit and you are looking good son. buuuuu by Mama & Dad.
I want to make a correction on my last post. After rereading our sons letter,I have concluded that they are not doing PT in their shorts and T shirts. They are merely reacting to the many fire drills and have to run out of the building with whatever they are wearing at the time.Been there, done that.
Great to see Yankee-180 looking fit and "ship shape"... That was a great picture. Keep going,
Y-180!
OMG!!! i totally see the hubby in the front row.. this is just amazing! im so happy .. i can actually see him.. i guess ill just stare at this picture all week!!
Well Im glad to see a picture!!I think I spoted my husband but half of his face was cover because he was in the very back!! This week is going to be hard but looking forward for him to get through week 3!! I still hope to hear from him soon!!
Cant wait for more pics♥
Here is a shout out to all you family members who really GET IT that serving in the military is an honor and a service to our country, and it is an awesome choice these men and women have made to take on this responsibility. Your support and pride has been inspiring to observe !!! You are a great Yankee-180 support team! Your pride in your family member will continue to inspire them going forward.
Cant wait to here more. I hope the next picture i will be able to see my man. Go Yankee 180! Everyone is so proud of you!
I'm so glad it's Sunday, that means they may be writing more letters home today! I love to hear anything at all even though they are short, something is better than nothing, hopefully we will get them on Wednesday, I still can not wait until graduation...39 days and still counting! Go Yankee 180, you can do it we are all here cheering you on, you make us all so proud!
Yeah i love sundays, i always hope he gets to write. I cant wait for graduation either! SO proud of you!
If im counting correctly 40 days to go!
I am happy to see a picture. I don't see any woman though. I have a daughter in Yankee 180. Does any other Mom or Dad have a daughter in?
She is lucky she seems to be on a great Team! Go Yankee 180!!
Love Mom
Hey Bengial Tiger, Glad to hear that there is at least one gal in Yankee 180... I hope that she has company with more young ladies. I was wondering the same thing as there were no ladies in the picture. I too am sorry this is a holiday, as it will delay any potential mail. I also wonder if they will get to watch the inauguration tomorrow. Go Yankees!
wOOHOO!!!GO Yanke 180
My son left out of Portland, Maine, there was one girl going with him to Cape May. I think I see her standing down at the end.
I sure hope we all get letters tomorrow! Cant wait to hear more!
what a great looking group of young men and women. just wanted to let my grandson know that i am honing my 8-ball game and suspect his is getting rusty. he may be in for a serious whoopin! good luck to all in yankee 180. ex USN Granddad
I only wish you could enlarge the pictures. But it is good to see them and hear what is going on in their lives.
I'm so happy to finally hear something. It has been had being totally in the dark about what is going on. It sounds pretty stuff but they r strong and will fight through it. I miss you so much David, i cant wait to hear from you.
love Merina
Well it's good to see the new pictures I wish they were bigger but it's most likely for the best!! I hope this week becomes easier for the group and hopefully they will work better as a team this week!! Can't wait till graduation!! Go Yankee 180!!
Are the girlfriends and boyfriends hearing from their Yankee? My son's girlfriend was told by a Navy guy that she shouldn't expect anything because when he was in bootcamp they were only allowed to write to family and any mail that came to them other than family was put away until the day they left! I hope the Coast Guard is not that way.
Thankyou for the updates, I think I saw our daughter in the first row on the cycles. We miss her alot!!!! Look forward to graduation!!
wow, nice pedaling yankee 180.When do you get gassed, bombed, and shot at while low crawling in the beautiful New Jersey sand? Woops,I had a Fort Dix flash back.Yes Sir Majormans,I was in the army.I'm so excited for my son because he is able to do something I can not. That is getting on a boat and going out to sea without puking all over the place. I am proud to say that within our family we have had someone in the ARMY,NAVY,AIRFORCE, and now COAST GUARD.Sorry but no MARINES yet.We take the protection of our country seriously.Thankfully the Coast Guard has a mission of helping to save lives and not destroying them. This is why we think the Coast Guard is the perfect match for our sons personality. So to all of the sailors, understand that you are within an historicly noble and honorable group of great americans.By only completing basic training and moving on to your next duty station and performing your tasks at the highest standards, you will have cemented your place in history. Many years from now someone might decide to look up their ancestory. What they will find is someone they can brag about to their children and give them confirmation that yes ,we have heros in our familly
Thank you Majormans for your complimant. My wife and I appreceiate your motivational contributions on behalf of all the recruits.
You can right click on the picture and save as background to see them bigger, that is what I have as my background now, then I can see my son everytime I get on my computer! They aren't real clear I wish they were bigger also, last weeks picture was very good and I have a good view of my son, I am just happy that we got some news, I sure look forward to that! Work hard as a team Yankee 180 keep up the good work, we will see you at graduation.
36 days :)
I hope everyone is holding up ok
I see my daughter in the front row on the cycle. I was so happy to see her along with other girls.
GO YANKEE 180
SR Walls,
You are serving your country and that is the greatest mission anyone can have. Team work will always complete the mission, your team is Yankee 180, persevere and you and your team will complete it's mission of becoming America's next Guardian. Susan and I are very proud of your commitment to our country.
SR T Walls and Yankee 180
It was great to see all of you and hear how you were all doing. We are so proud of you Timothy and the rest of your company. Keep up with all of your hard work! Looking forward to seeing you February 27th :) Love - mom & wayne
i wondered the same thing about the mail to girlfriends. i heard the same thing from air force people. i havnt goten a letter yet and have sent him a letter everyday since he left. i have no idea if he is getting them though. i really hope i get something soon.
Thank you, Martooney1, for your service as well as that of your family. I am retired Air Force from an extended military family also.
I am excited about our son enlisting in the Coast Guard. The USCG is indeed much more than a military career. It is protecting, it is saving, it is serving the people of the United States.
Yankee-180, You are the future to which we look forward. You will look back at this time as being one that is a major part of building your lives. So, keep going one day at a time. You will make it!
thanx nikki .....thats good to hear that means there is hope.:)
Thank you to those who take the time to post information about our loved ones. It is so hard not to have them here with us, but even harder not being able to hear from them just to know they are okay. We appreciate you reassuring us through posts and pictures. To my little brother, we miss you. Stay strong and continue to make us proud. You're my hero.
Love you!

I'm sure these past two weeks have been a huge transition for the recruits, but I know Yankee 180 will pull through with flying colors. I'm so very proud of each and every one of these individuals who chose to become a Guardian and serve their country. I'm so excited and can't wait to see my son in uniform at graduation. Hang in there... I'm counting down the days.
January 22, 2009 1:23 PM
I got a 2 page letter today! He said that they have gotten their guns, and had to stand at sniper position for an hour :(
No letter today. Just hoping for one tomorrow.
No letter here either:o( That is the only thing I look forward to all week so sure hope we get one tomorrow!
For those of you who have not received a letter yet, have faith. We just received a letter written on the 18th. The recruits are kept very busy and free time is limited with much to do when a minute or two is available. Know that your son/daughter is thinking of you and appreciates the notes and letters of support they receive. They are all doing their best to become a team and some of our country's finest. We are very fortunate to be in the age of computers where we can keep up with our recruits through pictures, journal entries, and these blogs :) We are proud of you Yankee 180 !!!
We were excited to receive another letter today. The first letter was nice but so brief. He said that he is only getting about 7 hours sleep a night, the training was intensive but that everyone was getting much better and it wasn't so bad. Says he's lost weight but gained alot of muscle and he LOVES the food, which is shocking to us, that was actually I big worry of mine. He said they even get donuts!
Still no letter today =( hoping for one tomorrow!
No letter today either for us here in CA. Maybe tomorrow! Thanks to those of you who share what your loved ones have wrote. I know they don't get much time to write so hearing bits and pieces from others helps imagine what it is really like. We couldn't be any prouder of our son going in the Coast Guard, but we sure miss him and can't wait to get to the mailbox and computer everynight. Has anyone made arrangements to stay in Cape May the night before graduation? We are interested but not sure where to stay. We can't wait to see the Yankee's. Our son said the food was good in his first letter too :)
no letter here either, but Monday was a holiday so im sure it will come tomorrow. and yes thank you to those who tell us what their letters said .it helps to hear about whats going on. im excited for next Tuesday and read the next journal entry.
We have made arrangements to stay at the La Mer Beachfront Inn (www.CapeMayLaMer.com or 800-644-5004). It looks like a pretty nice place and is fairly reasonable. It will be great to meet everyone at graduation and celebrate our kids and their wonderful achievement!!!
We got a letter today and so did his girlfriend! The good news is he has a comfy warm bed and the food is good. There are about 15 women, it's freezing cold and they get yelled at alot. One day they had to continuously drop and pick-up their pens for 1 hour. Our son has always been taught to look at who you are talking to, needless to say he has to do alot of pushups since you aren't supposed to look at them! They can't read mail until Sunday. They are learning alot about responsibility, and giving everything you do 110%. There are a couple prior service marines there that say this is alot harder than their first bootcamp! These first two weeks have been very long, physically hard and can't wait to have a normal conversation. And we thought having 1 year in a fitness club (with a trainer), 4 years on the swim and waterpolo teams would have had him in great shape! Hopefully next week will get better.
I got my letter yesterday!! He seems to be doing ok seems to miss home but he managing!!
My son said they can read the letters the day they get them but can only write on sundays. We are planning on staying at grandcapemay.com. We chose them for the indoor pool.
I GOT A LETTER TODAY! i was to excited when i saw the return address from my boyfriend that i broke the key chain my mail key is on as i slamed the mail box shut. he said book camp was very hard but he is getting though it. he said the food is good and it is very cold. i am very excited for the new journal entry soon and they get to wright tomorrow. getting his letter was the best thing that has happened since he left. i was so happy and so grateful he had time to wright.
Its Sunday =) cant wait for my next letter!
I cant wait for my next letter either!! =)
We received a letter a couple of days ago and was excited to hear from our son. He expressed it was cold in Cape May!
We have made arrangements to fly to Cape May to include mom, dad, big brother and grandmother. We are doing our part to stimulate the economy. Can't wait to see everyone and to give our son a great big hug. We are anxious to learn where he will be stationed.
We are proud of Yankee 180!
PS...I keep note cards with me...When I see our son's friends as well as our friends, they are happy to jot a note of support and best wishes to him and his team. I just put a stamp on it and mail it for them. Hopefully, this let's him know how very proud we all are of him! Everyone is so very supportive of the members of the US Coast Guard!
You all are so lucky to here from you loved ones. If only gotten one letter from the 12th. I'm so worried about him. I love you Pookey, I'm so proud of you.
I'm so worried. In his letter from the first week he said he'd write me again the fallowing Sunday but still no letter. I really hope he is ok. I love you so much baby!
Don't feel bad I have only received one letter and he told me sorry the first one was so depressing but I never got it so don't worry you'll get another one soon!! I have been sending pictures and I do know that he has all of the picture of our little one that I've sent him =)
thank you for that, it makes me feel a little better. Luckly for all of us next week Is week 5 so we should be getting phone calls. Go Yankee 180 tomorrow means only 30 days to go! I love you J.R.!
30 days left!!!
Just wanted to write to say how much I Miss my daughter and that time is going by so slow. I can't wait for the phone call either. From what I understand they have on base liberty and will be aloud to call on sat. February 14th.
Stay Strong Yankee 180!!!
That would be the best Valentine's prescent EVER!! I hope you are right, I will be sitting by the phone just incase! We should get a new posting today, I can't wait for some new news, I look forward to that every week! I can't wait for the phone call so I can buy tickets to graduation! See you in 31 Days! You sure make your family proud Yankee 180! We love you all!
I hope your right too. that would be awesome!!!
I also hope we get a phone call on the 14th, I cant wait to hear my husbands voice again!
I hope my husband gets to call on the 14th that would be wonderful because not only is it v-day but it's also 3 years since we've been together!!
im so happy to see pictures and a post!!! =) im so happy! i think i saw my man on one of the pictures. but only half of his face.
im so happy to see pictures and a post!!! =) im so happy! i think i saw my man on one of the pictures. but only half of his face.

I was excited to see the new pics and a new post. I saw my son in the second pic holding his rifle. He looked like he was all "into" it. Can't wait to get my first phone call from him.
It's really nice to know more about what's going on, I just wish I could see my man in the pictures :'( I love you JR! I really miss you baby!
Im so happy they posted new pictures and a new post!! Not to much longer and we will be seeing our love ones again =)
i know. i cant wait to see my boyfriend !!! J.R's girl... I really hope you hear something from your man!!
Thank you. This is getting really hard for me, we have never been apart this long. I hope everyone gets a phone call next week, almost 29 days to go!
It has been a while since I have posted anything. Keli(our daughter-in-law):) keeps us posted very well. It is so good to see all the posts. I know this is so hard for everyone but I am thankful that there are so many people out there that rooting for Yankee 180. I would like to thank each and everyone of you for all your support. I know this sounds crazy but this blog has been so helpful. All of you that are waiting on news be patient it will come. I know it made me cry when I got his letter. I carry it around with me in my purse. I have faith that all of Yankee 180 will pull thru all this. I can't wait for graduation. It seems so far away some days but I know that it will be here before we all know it. Thanks for the info about sending pics. Everyone keep your heads up our sons and daughters and spouses are all heroes and we will see them soon. Go YANKEE 180
Awesome pic. can't wait to get more info and pictures of you guys! And hopefully more letters soon. Sweetie I know yur doing great keep it up 6 more weeks BABY!
i miss my boyfriend so much and everyone's comments are so sweet and hopeful. i cant wait to see my sweat heart after graduation at the air port. he makes me so happy and it has been so hard without him. theses few weeks can not go by any slower.
There don't always get a phonecall in week 5, so get that out of your heads. And from the letters I've got, their not progressing as fast as most companies traditionally progress in bootcamp. They need to come together as a team in order for them to get ANYTHING done. And be careful buying your plane tickets. Some of the kids might get sent back a week in training if there not doing well.
Wow, was that rude or was it just me?
We bought our tickets already, not refundable but can be credited for another flight if we need to change. We figured the worst that could happen is we'll use the credit to get out of Maine and head to Florida for some sun! Heck I'd be happy with 65 and cloudy.
no its not just you USGCMOM that was extremely rude and negative . everyone here is trying to stay positive and make the best out of this situation we don't need to bring everyone down like that.and by the way, they do have to let the families know were their loved ones are stationed so you will get a call wether its from them or their cc's.
Yes, you will more than likely get a call in week 5 cause thats when you get told where you will be going. When they get told they have a chance to call one person...We all need to stay positive not negative!
That was so rude!! Im still hoping for a call! Like everyone is saying they have to call someone to let there families know where they are going to be stationed. Keep your heads up everyone! Go Yankee 180!!
Im thinking about you Bubbie and I miss you smiling, happy face :)
We are counting down the days till we see you (Especially Keli)
Love you!
GioCoastieVanni we are all trying really hard to be positive here. I havnt heard from my bf since the first week and he is in none of the pictures. I think we are all having a hard time here and we don't need someone like you ruining things for us. I'm proud of my man and he's working very hard Yankee 180 WILL GRADUATE on time and together! I love you J.R.!
Oh, and I can't wait till I get my phone call during week 5 :)
GioCoastieVanni - Where have you been? You shoud read some of the past journals and you would see Yankee-180 is doing just fine! Keep in mind the letters and journals are a week behind by the time we see them. Do you know someone in the company? Maybe they can teach you some positive communication skills after they graduate!
Good to know it wasn't just me being overly sensitive, I felt the way you all did with that post. Not a good intro to this group. The whole purpose of bootcamp is to make them work together and continue to strive to improve their skills. Of course they are going to be told, not good enough, try harder. They are going to be told everything they do is wrong. Thats a strong motivation to work harder and help each. You'd have to be crazy to think they are actually going to praise anything they do at this point. My son talked with enough people before he went in to know, even if you are doing great and not screwing up to badly, no one is going to tell you that. My letter from my son actually said the opposite of what your's did. He said they are starting to pull together. So I choose to stay positive and hope my son graduates on time, but if not, I change my tickets and look forward to the next graduation date.
I havn't gotten my plain tickets yet only because I want to try and get the same flight home with him. I believe Yankee 180 are doing great and they have wonderful support from their loved ones which helps to get them through this. They are strong and they can do it. Graduation will be a day to remember, I love you Pookey!
Has anyone heard anything new?
I know that my son and other team members have waited along time to be a part of Yankee 180. Together, they will succeed and be very proud of their accomplishments!
My friends and family are keeping the post office busy on a daily basis to share their support for our son as well as Yankee 180!
Well I my letter today he seems to be doing better!!!
That's good to hear, they are practically half way done. Great job Yankee-180, I'm proud of you J.R.!
Aww Nikki I'm really happy for you. I hope I get a letter soon, I'm dying to hear from him. I'm hoping that since they are conning from the other side of the U.S. that they had gotten lost. It's hard but this blog helps a lot. Great job yankee 180, I love you J.R.!
No letter today :'( hopefully tomorrow
Does anyone know if their coastie has gotten paid yet? I'm taking care of his bills but he hasn't been paid.
no letters today......hopefully we will get one tomorrow everyone stay positive and keep it up :)
I do know we got paid today and we get paid on the 1st and 15th!! We didnt get anything the 15th but if the 1st or 15th falls on the weekend then you get paid on Friday!! Hope everyone is doing good not to much longer!!
Thank you. Your right he got paid today. Thank you for the updates everyone.
Hi everyone,
We got a very positive 4 page letter today. Most of what he wrote is exactly what has happened in the other journals posted. Four weeks today and they will be all done and ready to begin their lives as guardians. Does anyone regonize their Yankee in the X-ray photo of them sitting in class? It may have been mislabeled.
Does anyone know if the SR's will receive word on their career fields and assignments this next week or the following week?
Yankee-180, you are half way there!
Everthing I have read gives me the impression they should hear by late next week and should be able to call their family with the news. Unless there are some changes they should also begin the pugal stick training, get fitted for their uniforms and small pox shots!
Hi everyone,
From what I understand from my daughters letter she will find out on Thurs. where she will be stationed. Not possitive but I will have my phone ready . They will be calling 2/14 if they stay out of trouble , they will have on base liberty that day where they can shop and go eat what they want. That I didn't find out from her , but from someone else who was in boot camp there last year. But only if they are doing well. I hope they do!
Time will go by fast from now til graduation I hope.
J.R's girl...Yes they did get paid on the 30th cause the 1st would be a Sunday
We received a letter this week!
He expressed that letters from home put a smile on his face. Basically his only complaint
is the cold weather! I asked him if
he had a chance to build a snowman since we almost never have snow back in Coastal Georgia!
He suggested that he may be able to
call home during week six.
Apparently they are preparing for their fitness tests. I laughed when he told us how many push ups they are doing a day.
It was wonderful to learn what "great respect" he has for his company commanders. The letter was brief since he said he had a lot to do in a short amount of time! He asks that we keep those cards and letters coming! I'm sure he was asking for himself as well as on behalf of his team members! Go Yankee 180!
Keep the cards and letters flowing. It's support and encouragement they need and want. Our son expressed how much it meant to everyone there to get letters from home. He also said the classes are really good and he's enjoying them. As long as they work as a team the days will get brighter. We encourage our son to support and help the few who need it more. Go Yankee's
I'm glad everyone is hearing from their loved one and are sharing what they said. I still havnt heard from mine since week 1 so this blog is helping. I still write him every single day. I love you baby!
Im glad my husband isnt seeing much of a change in weather since he went to college in ND and we live only 4 hours from Cape May...He is used to the cold thank goodness...
I finally got a letter!!!! I am so happy. You were all right. He seems do be doing just fine. He also expressed how cold it was there. He loves the food which is shocking because he's a picky eater. Good job Yankee 180, tomorrow is finally Feb. 1st, just a little bit longer!
Isn't that funny our picky eaters are all loving the food, maybe I'm not as good of a cook as I thought I was!
So being that this is the post that most everyone is commenting on, I figured I'd chip in. My boyfriend called me twice this afternoon because he had off base liberty. I didn't even question the number shown on my cell and I answered right away. The last three times he's tried to call me, I've been in the middle of calls or my phones been on silent. (I'm in class most the time that's why I have my phone on silent) It was so great to talk to him for about 35 minutes. He'll be stationed in Homer, Alaska for about a year or so, which will make our relationship difficult, but I'm still in college, so the distance may be a good thing as I can concentrate on my studies and he can get more training in before he heads off to 'A' school. He graduates Friday and is playing in the band for a graduation Thursday and then for his own on Friday. His CC's sound to be pretty nice, but harsh. The first few weeks went by slow for him, but the last four have gone by pretty fast. He said that he's going to be sending a few letters out on Monday and that he'll call me as soon as he gets his cell phone back! It's been a long 7 weeks and it'll be another 6 days after he gets back to MN before I see him again. I'm just happy to hear his voice and know everything is going well for him. I hope you all receive more letters and phone calls. It makes the time go by fast between being apart. Good night!
that's good! It's finally February! I'm so excited for graduation!
I just want to thank everyone who is sharing their letters, we didn't get one last week but it helps hearing what others have to say.
Yay! Tomorrow is Tuesday which means there will be a new journal entry. Can't wait! Almost done baby, I love you!
I cant wait for another post either! Maybe a letter tomorrow too! Probably wednesday though.
I continue to enjoy everyone's comments that their recruit has written. I don't always hear from my son, so it is fun to put the various pieces of info together to get a better picture of what they are doing. I too am reading the journals of the groups ahead of them. I also wrote my son about all of the support and prayers that various families are extending to all of Yankee-180. My thanks to all of you. 25 more days- they can do it!
I hope all of Yankee 180 is doing well. My husband is in there. I can't wait for that phone call!!

It is finally Tuesday and I got on as soon as I got home from work. I love all the news. One thing I want to say is props to all of you that are posting in this blog. It is so much easier to root for Yankee 180 and send them all praise when the people cheering them on are positive. So I have to say go Yankee 180 families:) Everyone stay strong. Only 24 more days. It will fly by. Hope to see everyone at graduation. Maybe there could be some way that we all could let each other know who is who and we could try and meet up at graduation. I know that may be a crazy thought but I would kind of like to meet all the blogers. GO YANKEE 180 we love and are rooting for all of you.

Proud Mom
Im so proud! Im also excited!... I just found out i will for sure be coming to graduation!! Im so happy! There's only one problem. Im flying into phil. with my brother and my sister in law, No one is able to rent a car so we aren't sure how to get to Cape May for the graduation and also to our hotel. If anyone can help by letting me know if there is transportation from phil. to Cape May that would be great!! Go Yankee-180!!
Nikki,
Are any of you 21? I had the same issue because usually you have to be 25+ to rent a car and I’m 22, but I found out Enterprise rents to age 21+. You can also go to the nj transit website and go to the contact us section and let them know your issue, they had e-mailed me different options of transportation but I no longer have the e-mail. When is your flight and what hotel? I had to rent a mini-van lol if anything is the same for us i could possibly give you a ride. I’m flying in to PHL at 5:00 on the 26th. Hope this helped! Go Yankee 180! You guys/girls are doing such a great job!

I got another letter today and it's from jan 18th during week 2! I guess that shows that our letters are getting lost :)
hopefully letters tomorrow, I miss James so much!
I know how you feel, I miss J.R. Almost 22 days to go, not to far away everyone. We should be getting phone calls soon :)
Are flights are at the same time it sounds like it would work out. My hotel is only 1.7 miles away from the training center. I would love to have people to go with to graduation and im bringing my GPS lol so we shouldn't get lost. E-mail me so we can figure everything out athompson32@hotmail.com.
No letter today :( maybe tomorrow.
My mother and sister each got letters. My son said he qualified for his 9mm handgun, they have to toughest but best company commanders (he said even the other graduating units said this). They started off as a group of 99 but are down to 95. I had to laugh because my son's handwriting is so bad, my sister thought he wrote that he was qualified in Sig Pizza Handgun. Hopefully we'll get a letter ourselves today.
I usually get my letters on Friday. That is funny about the bad handwriting, my husband's handwriting is pretty rough too. hehe. Im so excited for all of them. I don't know if I will make it to graduation unfortunately. He will have some other family there if I can't go.
My mail hasn't come yet, but i usually get letters at the end of the week also. I cant wait to get that first phone call and find out where he is getting stationed. Almost done Yankee-180 keep up the great work! We are all so proud!
I didn't get a letter today but am hopeful I will receive one tomorrow.
I went to Wal-Mart..they have 48 cent Valentines Day Cards so he will get Valentines cards for the next week or so!
No letter for us here in Californa either. My son's first two letters weren't that neat either. Then this last one was on lined paper and he wrote small and neat. I even asked in a letter to him if they were teaching them how to write letters because it was so good. Graduation will be here soon. Six months ago we said we would give our son the money it would cost to get there. Now, there is no way I would miss it. I am so proud and admire all of these young men and women who want to be there to serve our country. Go Yankee's!!
No letter here yet either. When he does write it's in all capital letters, he never used to write in all cap's so I don't know if they make them do that or not. 21 days as of tomorrow and I would not miss graduation for anything! I will be so proud and I will be the one in tears embarrassing my poor son:o)
Well my husband has the worst hand writing but since he been gone he writes in all caps and my letter are so neat!! I got a letter today and he said if they start doing good during the day they might get some nights to write letters!! Not to much longer
There's My HUSBAND Chris. first guy on the left bottom row! Im so happy to see him! Ive recieved 4 letters now & this is the 1st picture i've seen him in!! Im so proud of Him & all the men & women with him!
got a letter, sounds like they are doing good! He said they should be able to call by the end of the week but he isnt sure.
I am so ready for that phone call. I really want to hear is voice and talk to him. I am also excited and nervous to find out where we will be living. My cell phone is glued to my hand lol.
My cell is glued to my hand 2, I also cant wait to hear my husbands voice!
Yeah I know the feeling!! I've been having trouble with my phone dying so I have an extra battery for my phone one of my friends gave me just in case my phone starts going dead!!
I'm sure you will let us know when one of you gets a call :) I was sure hoping for a letter today, maybe tomorrow. What will we do when we don't have this anticpation anymore? I feel glued to the mailbox, computer and cell phone!!
I know how you feel, lol thats like all my life is right now. Checking this blog, writing letters, and waiting for the mail and phone calls. Thats all i can do, im driving myself crazy.
Paso Jack, My letter was late this week too...I normally get my letter on Wednesday but i didn't get it till today.
I got my letter today, but it was very short :( but something is so much better then nothing. Who knows when the letters will come, during week two everyone got a letter but my letter for that week didn't even get here till this week.
I always get my letters Friday. I am just like you guys. I got the phone glued to me and my eyes glued to this blog. Im going crazy!!
no letter today maybe tomorrow
Maybe phone calls this weekend, im keeping my fingers crossed.
hey guys my wife is in y-180 and she called me last night she only told me about some travel arrangments but she did say she could call me on the 14th. so even though it was only a 45 sec. call it was still great. i hope everyone gets a call on the 14th. go y-180
So Tammsman, she didnt get to tell you where she is even being stationed. Im glad she called though. I am dying to know where my husband is being stationed. I don't think I can wait any longer!!!!
no she has a gauranteed "A" school, so we already know that we have to be in petaluma,ca by 1 april. we wont know where we are going to be stationed at until she completes her school
My son is in Zulu, a week behind you guys, when should we expect to receive a call or get to know where he is posted, thanks
if they earn it they can get there 1st phone call in week 5 that is also when they find out where they are going to be stationed.
Thanks for the info Tammsman I appreciate it. So you can go live with her when she is going to A school? I didn't know that or is there certain circumstances like if the A school is one of the longer ones.
From what I have learned you can't live with them during 'A' school except for a select few. I have learned alot from coastiechicks.net
They will answer any questions you have (sorry guys :( its for girls only) You are so lucky to get a phone call even though it was really short.
Well here is a comment that might help you and Nikki "If he goes IT or ET it is a full PCS to California. I dont know if you married or not so that depends on the barracks issue. Married he can live with you if not he will in the barracks. With nights and weekends off minus when they have duty." So in your case you might be lucky enough to live with her :)
well today we are all siting at home staring at the phone on the counter waiting for a call. the anticipation is killing us. every time the phone rings every one stops wut they r doing.
every time my phone rings it feels like my heart jumps...Im stuck to the computer and have been for the past 4 days
At least we all have one thing to be happy about TWENTY DAYS TO GO!!!
Well more like 19 1/2 now, but we are FINALLY out of the twentys and getting into the teens. Even if we don't get a phone call,(i'm praying we do) we can look forward to a great valentines day phone call :)
oh and just so everyone knows, on that coastiechick.net website they said the calls on week 5 usually start friday and you can get your call anytime from then to sunday. The first call is very short, they only call to tell you where they are getting staioned and then have to go. So there is still hope for this weekend ;)
Yeah, we got a letter today. Most of it was a more detailed repeat of the recruit journal. They had their motivational talk on the beach one night. Enjoyed the Pugal stick training, said it was like American Gladiator. Food is starting to get boring. Enjoys all his shipmates and says they are really close and feels like a family. They will be the Senior company now. They miss the outside world and look forward to our letters and the news we provide.
ProudUSCGparents,
What a small world. Are you in Crestview Florida? My parents moved there a couple years ago. They are coming up to the graduation. We are in California.
We got a CALL!!!!! Our son will be stationed at the Patrick Airforce Base in FL on the Cutter Confidence. He said he's very excited and sounded great. He said they may be able to call again tomorrow. Oh my gosh....to hear his voice is just awesome.
Well I now have renewed hope about a call this weekend. Thank you so much!!! I want to know where my husband and I are moving. I don't even know when to quit my job. Hopefully soon. The bosses are driving me nuts. haha.I hope everyone gets there calls. It will probably take some time because there company seems pretty large compared to some of the others. Lets keep the faith. :)
the only reason i am moving to cali with my wife for her "A" school is because she ig going for ET and it is a 5 month course.
I live in south Florida about 2 hours from Patrick Air Force Base I think. We are trying to get the heck out of this state but I wouldnt complain if he got stationed in the Keys. LOL
