It was good to see some pictures of VICTOR 181 with last journal report. The marching in formation looked really good. Way to go everyone, keep up the good work!!! Starting your 4th week already. Sounds like things are beginning to come together. I know you are working hard. Continue to be strong and hang in there. This 4th week looks like you will have more important and critical training. Less incentive training will allow you to get down to the whole reason you are there and the weeks will fly past even faster. You have every reason to be very proud. Love Granpa

SRs Fullerton, K&S,

Happy 4th of July! We are relaxing (I am dead tired)after a long bike ride this morning, 40 miles, and in hilly, hot Clermont, too.

I imagine that you'll be calling on a Sunday. What I can't figure out if it is the 12th or the following week.

I like the site photos. I thought I spotted Kyle, but wasn't certain.

Grandma was very happy to hear from you. You know how excited she gets. You should have heard her, thanks for writing.

You can also expect a goofy card from Grandma Linda. Well, I guess that would be normal. Anyway, you've been warned.

The cats are stir-crazy this evening and Maitland hasn't lost a pound. She hovers around me whenever I am sitting down. It's rather sad.

We are having an old buddy over tomorrow, Rich, along with your sister and Jay. We'll be thinking of you as we eat wings. Hmmm, that wasn't particularly kind. We'll save you some.

BTW, I think that was your dad's first blog. He's definitely better with letters.

Take care you two and God Bless,

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday.

Love you,
Mom

I went on your wall and wrote there are new pictures. I also told them they may not get letters back if they write you buy only because you have very "little" free time. Going into week 5! WooHoo! I think about you all the time. I think today was the only day we did not mail a letter, your brothers and father gave me a lovely cold, so I did not mail one today, but will write tonight and maybe you will get it by this Sunday, if not, you should still have a lot for this week. SR Fullertons, Kyle and Shane,

Just a short note to say "Hello"!

We just heard from your recruiter that you should be calling later this afternoon or early evening. He said that you all have training this morning. I hope that is correct! I can't wait.

We are going biking this morning for three hours. I'll take my phone with me just in case though.

We received your latest letters and you both sounded great. Thanks. Grandma is doing pretty good according to your dad.

Love to you both,

Has anyone received a phone call yet? I haven't heard from my son yet. It's Saturday, 7/11, 11:45 AM CT.

dnote627 said...

I just heard from both boys. They are fine and wanted to know about travel arrangements. It was a very short call, but great to hear their voices.

akpolarbear said...

SR Hamlin, K.F.
My grandson just called his parents to make travel arrangements from boot camp to home (2-3 days) to final destination. The call was monitored and only about 3-4 mins. My grandson is growing up fast!! The recruits have a lot of work ahead during their final weeks, but my grandson seemed to be in good spirits. With a large company, it will probably take several days to make all of the connections.

"Stepmonster" said...

We just received call from our son! He sounds really tired, but good! It was great to hear from him. He was able to talk longer than I thought, a lot of yes mam, no mam, I love you too, Mam...! Everyone have a great "Son"day...We are on the downhill stretch!

Hi there, it's Saturday. I have read hear that a few have heard from their sons, and see you contacted your dad. I can understand that the calls are monitored and very short. I would love to hear from you , but understand If we don't touch base, considering you don't know my working schedule. I only wish that you continue to stay strong, continue to learn all that is needed to be one of the best recruits of company Victor 181. Keep your head high and focus on your graduation on July 31st. When Chad called yesterday he said next weekend they will be able to call from a bank of phones, talk longer and possibly make more than one call. For anyone who has not received call yet, I am sure they are still in process of making calls. Chad's brother in law, who is Officer in USCG said with 100 recruits and having to make the first call in the office and being monitored, it takes several days to get all of those calls made. Also, he told us that he is not sure about now, but that in the past they were not able to make first telephone call to a cell phone it had to be land line. Not sure if that is still true. Hang in if you have not received call. I am sure it is coming!

"Stepmonster" said...

One more thing...In case you ae not aware, the recruits can not see these blogs. We knew that from the beginning, so we were printing them off and sending to Chad so he could share with the rest of the companty their blogs from loved ones. However, we received letter from Chad after doing this several times, telling us that he is not allowed to receive them, as it is considered contraband. I thought I would let you know, in case you want to print them off, so they can see them when they get home

"Stepmonster" said...

Now I have a question...I am trying to decide what to wear to graduation. How dressy, etc. I have searched the web site, but of course cannot find anything. My husband is wearing his dress uniform, so that does not help me. Any advice would be great appreciated. Thanks...!

Mama Vedo said...

I had planned to wear something "church dressy" - something appropriate for a college graduation. Is that what you were thinking Stepmonster?

dnote627 said...

Hi,

It is probably going to be warm at 11am, espcially if it is outside. Church attire is appropriate, I believe, but I have been to a couple of these graduations(Parris island) and the apparel varies from very casual to church attire with some in uniform.
My boys' recruiter has a daughter in their company. He said that they should have base liberty this weekend and should be able to call.

Donna

Mama Vedo said...

Thanks Donna!!!

Mrs Coyne said...

hey everyone. I have two questions...one being ..Does anyone know if the saturday before graduation they can come off base? Because that was what I was originally told, but from the message my husband left me, I'm not too sure now...and the second question is...am I missing this weeks journal?! = [ I look foward to it every Tuesday and I am totally bummed right now!!

I love you Mike! Mikayla is getting soooo big! She asked to use the potty today!! = ] Miss you ...it's almost over love!

The blog on Victor 181 has not been updated which is very disappointing as we wait all week for the updates. The front page of the site also has not been updated. Hopefully it is just an oversight and they will notice it soon and update it. The phone call was great and worth the wait. Hang in there parents and spouses our recruits will finish strong and we we will all be there July 31st standing prouder than ever.

Hello,

I made out one of my sons, I think. There is a nice, easily recognizable photo of three recruits, not mine. :)

My boys did call the land-line, not our cellphones. They sounded good on Saturday, hurried of course. Shane said the Chicken Pox shot made him sick.
They want us to drive up from Florida, so it looks like we're going on a road trip to Jersey. We'll have a set of 18-year old twins talking our heads off all the way home.
Take care everyone!
Until the 31st,

Regards,

Well, today is the 16th, 2wks from tomorrow is graduation. I'm sure all of Victor 181 is looking forward to completing their training. It was nice to finally be able to read the new blog. Looks as though they are really testing our loved ones and working them hard. I'm glad they earned their colors! For those of you that could see your sons, or loved ones, there were some better pictures to view. I guess I won't get a phone call for I don't have a landline. I will just look forward to seeing my son when I do. Is there anyone that has experienced Cape Mays restaurants? I have been online searching out some place our family can relax and enjoy visiting with my son.

dnote627 said...

Hi,
My cousin and his wife stay on Cape May every year. He recommends the MadBatter, especially the brunch. I love the name.
The Mad Batter Restaurant & Bar
19 Jackson Street
Cape May, New Jersey 08204
609-884-5970
the website is the same as the name of the restaurant.

I'd love to eat there, the menu looks great, especially the breakfast.
Donna
he said the Jersey Cape is a reasonable place to stay there. I haven't checked their prices though.

Chad's Mom said...

Thank you Donna, Please thank your cousin and wife for their suggestion. I really appreciated your reponse. I used to live in a small town in GA, and we had a quaint little restaurant with the same name, but not the same menu. :) I'm sure most of us are getting excited for graduation, perhaps I may meet you there. :)
God Bless you and yours,
Sherry
