YANKEE 180, ARE YOU READY TO RUMBLLLLLE? We are so proud of every one of you who chose to accept the ultimate responsability of protecting and serving the people of this great country. We are confident that all of you will be succesful in your mission.Remember, It's not about being the best IN your class, but more about being the best TEAM.
We can't express enough our love and admiration for our son and the since of pride our family feels knowing he is doing something so important.

Where are all the parents, wives, husbands and other loved ones with recruits in Yankee 180? They need our support especially At this crucial time in their training. The beginning is the most diffilcult part of this transition to a new and more rewarding life. Each and every recruit is very special and deserves our encouragement to graduate as a complete class.I don't know if they will have a chance to read this but better safe than sorry. So to our son, we want to say,"YOUR AWWWWSOME".

We are now at 45 days to go and counting! I heard there will be updates and photos, does anyone know when those start? I can not wait to hear something! I am so proud of all of you and can't wait for those 45 days to pass, I will be on that plane to graduation! Love and miss you JP

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE ADDRESS! I hope you trainees do great and become stronger in the end. Sweetie I miss you so much and I'm writing to you now. I hope I get to be at your graduation. Anyway I'm so proud of you!

We are proud of you, Yankee 180. You have chosen a profession for which we are grateful as a nation. There are those of us who have been through boot camp in some service before, so we know what you may be feeling (even though it may have been quite a few years ago).
Just remember that you will succeed as a team as you help each other through your challenges. We are thankful for our son and the decision he has made to serve our country.
I believe that they have new postings every Tuesday per the information that I read. Expect something new by tomorrow or Wednesday.
45 days and counting!

For your courage to choose this path to manhood,
For your commitment to continue through all the hurdles,

For you

We are so proud of our son and the path that he has chosen. We have been waiting all week for an address. It is nice to see that there is a place where we can post our thoughts with other people who are going through the same thing. Yankee 180's graduation isn't that far away. We can hardly wait. GO YANKEE 180!!!!

Leslie said...

Actually looking at the first post for Juliet 180 it appears we will have to wait until next Tuesday for the first post, after they have completed their first full training week, not including the first three days of medical. I'm having a hard time adjusting to him leaving home but so proud of his decision to join. Already looking at flights for graduation day!

USCGGIRLFRIEND said...

Thank you so much for putting up the address! I already sent my boyfriend a letter. Im so proud of him! I cant wait for graduation. Im counting down. 44 days to go!

Anonymous said...

AAHH, I am bummed that we might have to wait another week for a posting, I am looking forward to any news at all. Leslie you are not the only one having a hard time adjusting, this is harder than I thought! I can't wait to buy those graduation tickets, then it will seem closer and within sight. I am so proud that my son is following his dream, that is what I keep reminding myself. Keep up the good work and follow your dream Jake! It will all be worth it very soon.

I think that everyone posting on here need to create a profile, then we can see where everyone is from, maybe we are all closer than we think... See you in 44 days!

how proud are we of our sons and daughters who have taken this step to join the USCG. My son has wanted to do this for years and our family is so proud of him. I never imagined that letting him go would be so difficult.
Its going to be a difficult challenge for them to make it through the remaining 7 weeks. I pray that each one of them stand tall, keep the heads up and be proud of what their doing, knowing that feeling and self of accomplishment they will have when they graduate.
We will pray for them every day.
We cant wait for February 27.
(BTW...I hope they can hang onto their wisdom teeth !!)

ThatsMyBoy said...

Yo Boofus !!!!...this is your very proud dad ! not sure if your ever going to get to see these messsages. I didn't want to post your name. Be strong boy ! We love you !!!

We are so Proud of Yankee 180! Anxiously awaiting photos. We are watching the weather channel as well so stay warm! We can't send all of Yankee 180 personal letters but please know that we know you will serve your country with honor and respect. You are in our thoughts and prayers. We can't help but laugh because our son was born and raised in the South and now he is "Proud to be a Yankee 180!! Go Team!
Proud Mom and Dad!

Anonymous said...

ThatsMyBoy, I had to laugh when I read about keeping wisdom teeth, I have been thinking about that since he left, the recruiter said that they would probably pull them and it's been on my mind ever since, boot camp will be hard enough let alone going through all the physical fitness with a soar mouth, hopefully they will wait on that until after boot camp. Since today is just about over I can say 43 days until we see you all at graduation! Go Yankee 180, you are doing great! You can do it, we miss you but know that you are making your family very proud! Love and miss you! See you soon... Just not soon enough!

ThatsMyBoy said...

USCGMom....I had the chance to speak with my son and unfortionatly they told him all 4 would be coming out sometime this week. Your right, the stress is hard enough and they have to deal with the pain of having their wisdom teeth removed? Not only does this add stress, it adds time. this will delay their individual gratuation on the 27th (so I'm told).

Nikki said...

I agree with all who say this is hard. My boyfriend and i have been together for a year and haven't ever been apart this long. But i keep telling myself its all for a good reason! I cant wait till its over though. Im so proud of you Andrew!!! I love you so much babe!!

majormans said...

ThatsMyBoy We just want you to know that we too are praying every day for all in the company and we will say a special prayer for your son and for you as he deals with this challenge.

Anonymous said...

Our thanks to the internet! It has been so informative in this first week of not having our son around. It's comforting to read the different companys highs and lows. I wish the recruiter had informed us of this site and the Coast Guard Channel "It's just 8 weeks". We hope Yankee's speaker of the company can keep us as informed as some of the other companys. Hopefully, our recruits will learn early the importance of teamwork! We are so proud of our son and confident this is his calling. We wish them some of our warm weather here in Paso Robles, California. Can someone tell me how to create a profile?

Rio Blanco SD Parents said...

Oh my gosh I guess I didn't know about the whole wisdom teeth thing. I sent a letter/card today. I tried to keep it light. I can only imagine what everyone in Yankee 180 is going through. My prayers and thoughts go out to each and every one of them. Stay strong and know that there will be great reward at the end of this. Go Yankee 180!!!!

Rio Blanco SD Parents said...

Son this one is for you. I am not sure if you will get to read these or not, but just in case. I wanted to tell you how proud your dad and I are of you. Yes your brother and sister and wife are also proud. As well as countless other people. Keep your head up and remember that you are loved and missed. Do your best and you will be rewarded. Can't wait to see you. Love from home.

majormans said...

Paso Jack, go into the area like you are setting up your account and then sign in. Then you click on your login name back at this page and you should be able to Edit from there. There may be an easier way, but this worked for me. Also, what is the Coast Guard channel? We didn't hear about that one...

Anonymous said...

I figured out the profile :)

We got our first letter today. Sounds like he's exhausted! That was on Sunday and I hear the first weekend is very tough. Hopefully by tomorrow they will all be used to what to expect. I'm sure the very cold weather doesn't help much. Since they don't get much time to write I sent pre-made forms for my son to fill out. Example: Today was ___ the weather was___I like ___I learned___,we'll see if it makes it easier and I get more letters from him. I think if we all encourage them to work as a team and help each other out the sooner it will get easier. My thoughts and prayers are with them daily. I'm not sure if they see this, does anyone know for sure?

Nikki said...

Hey majormans. Im doin alright. Just hangin in there like the rest of you im sure. Its hard but im very proud!! Hopefully all of you are getting through this ok. Writing comments on this seems to help me a little.

FABs said...

Yankee 180 you can do it! Dont falter and just keep walking straight forward to your goals. Your in my family's prayers. And sweetie I hope your doing great.

Richmond Hill Real Estate said...

Congratulations on a two week old baby...I can't imagine how difficult it is for your husband as well. The time is passing quickly so hopefully you and your husband will be together soon! You will all look back in years to come to tell your story to your little one!

Richmond Hill Real Estate said...

Love the pre-made forms idea...I may give that a try! I may try mailing a nice card for my son to send to his father and I so all he has to do is sign his name!

I'm sure my son is pushing hard to succeed for he has been preparing for a few months for camp and he is living his dream to be in the Coast Guard. He loves being a part of a team!

We are so excited for him and his new team! Go Yankee 180!

Leslie said...

I would very much doubt they would be allowed to see this, they want them to connect with each other, not to mention everything they have to do in a day. I had one of his high school classmates mother say to me, don't you think it's cruel that they can't talk to you? She can't see the big picture, while I hate not being able to talk to him I totally understand why. She just looked at me like I was a horrible mother. Oh well, I know this is going to be one of the things in his life that will give him great pride and he'll make friends for life and have a job he can be proud of. I have to laugh about the weather comments, it was -19 out at my house, we're looking forward to graduation and the warm weather :)

Unknown said...

It is so nice to hear everyone's comments, that has really helped me (a mom). Even if our recruits can't read the comments now, they might later and see the support that surrounded them. Our son is sending one letter to his brother who posts it on a family website. Word in the first letter is that there are 98 recruits and they have had 2 early morning fire drills. I am glad that there temps are relatively mild... here in central Illinois it is negative 18 this morning. My congratulations to the mom with a newborn. Take care.

Kelsey Lynn said...

Although I know no recruits in Yankee 180, it's so nice to hear that people are connecting on here. My boyfriend is a member of X-Ray 180. So far during the time that he has been gone I have recieved three letters. I just recieved the third one yesterday before I left for home. He has to wake up early in order to read the letters and it takes a while to actually write letters. A typical day for him usually begins at 5:30 AM and isn't done until 10:00 pm. They do so much stuff in between those times which makes me wonder why he isn't exhausted by the final hour. He began this last letter January 5th and didn't finish it until January 11th, so that should give you an idea of how long it takes to write. The letter before that arrived a couple days before New Years Eve and the letter before that the day after Christmas. I am very proud of him. I wish I would be able to go to his graduation on February 6th, but because I'm a college student, college is where my priority is. It's been a tough 5 weeks, but it's been manageable just reading the letters. I wish Yankee 180 the best of luck. Keep your heads on straight and work as a team because that's the only way you're getting out of there.

Anonymous said...

Renee and Kelsey Lynn, Thank you so much for filling us in on your letters, it's nice to hear what they are doing there, my last letter was so brief and not really any information, I am new to this and have no idea what to expect except from what I saw on the video so any news is great to hear! I am still trying to figure out if it's harder for the recruits or on their family at home, I heard it get's easier for them after the first two weeks but I don't know if it will be any easier for me! Still counting down until graduation, I can't wait!!! 42 days!!!

Nikki said...

The letter that I got from my boyfriend was very short. He said he was on a time objective and that training is hard but fair. He also said the next letter will describe. Congratulations to the 2 week old baby. That must be hard for you and your husband but it will be good in the end. =)

Kelsey Lynn said...

Just to give you all an idea of what's going on and what to expect, here is what my bf wrote regarding what a typical day is for him:

5:30 AM - Company Commanders come in and wake up the recruits
6:45 AM - Breakfast
After breakfast they have class, gym, and swimming depending what what day it is
12:20 - Lunch
After lunch, they have more classes and they get yelled at a lot.(that's what he says)
5:20 - Dinner.
After dinner they have more classes and intensive training where they work out with a 10 lb. gun and pack all their stuff into these large sea bags and are worked hard on the beach.
He doesn't enjoy it too much.
After that, they shower are in bed usually by 10 pm. Some nights, though, they have to wake up for 2 hours just to make sure everything is what it's supposed to be and that nothing has happened to anyone.

My boyfriend is part of band there and plays every Friday. He's also on the colors team so he raises the flags in the morning and at night. From what he said, Hell Week is coming up which means less sleep and more work. They had a bunch of P.E. tests and a midterm test last week and he passed all of them. Next week he'll find out where he'll be stationed. It makes me nervous to find out where he'll be stationed, but I couldn't be more happier for hime. I hope you all get detailed letters from your recruits, but they don't have a lot of time to write. I can't believe he has 3 weeks left! To be completely honest, I think that it's gotten easier for me since he's been away, and I can't wait to see him again! I hope this helped some people out!

majormans said...

This is Mrs. Majormans...Kelsey Lynn--thanks so much for all the detailed info. It's really great to know more about what a day looks like. You are getting closer to the end! We are pulling for X-Ray to finish strong!! Thanks to all of them!

Keli said...

Kelsey Lynn, don't be nervous about where you will be stationed cause it will drive you crazy if you keep wondering about it...Just be hopeful...My husband and I are going to be stationed in Cali. because he did very well on his testing but we don't know where in Cali yet...Stay strong!

Leslie said...

Training is hard but fair. I have to laugh, when I read my sons letter I knew those weren't something he usually says, even more odd for him....the food is good. Oh well, I'm sure he's too tired to really write anyway, quite frankly it's just nice to see his handwriting.

Nikki said...

Keli... You are so lucky that your husbsnd is going to be here in Cali. I sure hope thats where my boyfriend and i will be. He said he will try but dont count on it. I just keep pray for it to be in Cali or a state close.

Joseph's Wifey said...

It is good to see everyone is getting letters!! I still haven't received one yet I was wondering did yall get the forms and letters seprately??

Nikki said...

Yeah. I got my letter a few days after the form. You'll get your letter soon. Maybe he wanted it to be longer so he is waiting till this coming weekend to send it. I hope you get it soon!

Richmond Hill Real Estate said...

I received a form letter! Waiting for a handwritten letter...Funny - I went to Wal-Mart since they were advertising cards for 44 cents..I took them to church and had my sons friends sign them to wish him luck!

Go Team..Go!

The first photo looked great but now I need more. Please feed my appetite for more visual confirmation on the trials and tribulations of our son and Yankee180.Lets see some pictures of pain, acceptance of the new reality, and the resounding joy that follows when they perform as a well oiled machine. And espiecially when they discover that total strangers can be some of the most important people in their lives.Thank you Coast Guard for this opportunity for me to excersize my parental pride. God be with "Yankee 180 TEAM" and all their families.

Two weeks down and six to go! Hopefully they all had a chance to write us today. No disrespect, but I wish tomorrow was not a holiday for the post office. I can't wait to hear more. Hopefully they are all getting used to the routine and working together as a team. After reading all the previous companies postings, I'm guessing someone in the company is designated as the writer for them. Maybe we'll see more postings and pictures this week. Some of the postings I read were daily journals and others very brief. I'm sure we would all love daily postings!

Rio Blanco SD Parents said...

Wow thank you everyone for all the info. Congratulations to Santana Jade on the baby. Thanks Leslie for the website. And thanks Kelsey Lynn for the schedule. We haven't got a letter yet, but I told him to write his wife before anyone else. Hello Keli I see you have been on. I am sending another note and card out Tuesday. We are making plans for graduation already. It will be here before we know it. Once again I can't thank you all enough for the postings. I know I will wonder who everyone is at graduation. I am anxiously waiting for the recruit journals to start being posted. Love the picture of the company and proudly show it to everyone. Stay strong YANKEE 180 we are all behind you.

Leslie said...

We too are making plans for graduation, I just wish we could buy his ticket so I knew we could all fly home together (assuming he can and wants to come home after). We are going to fly into Phili, my husband's back can't do the 8 hour drive. For anyone who has a Southwest at their airport you should sign up for Ding. It notifies you of specials only available thru the Ding program, also the email specials. We purchased tickets for 59.00 down and 69.00 back thru it. Tickets can be applied toward other airfare if we have to change our dates. The one deal we got thru Ding the other thru the email specials, so be sure to check both.

Aunt Laurie said...

To my nephew James. I am also very proud of you. You make your family very proud! I am trying to pull everyone together for your graduation so that everyone you want there makes it. Time seems to be moving so slow for us till we see you again. I love you Bubbie :)

Richmond Hill Real Estate said...

My husband and I have made arrangements to travel to Cape May for Graduation and now our older son has decided he will join us
on the same flight as well.

We will not arrive until midnight before graduation! Keep your finger's crossed the weather is good from Penn airport to Cape May.

I am forwarding our flight schedule to my son via US Mail so that he will have it and can possibly make plans to return on the same flight with us.

It is my understanding that someone may be there to assist them in making flight arrangements to return home.

If for any reason he does not get to travel with us...We will be there to meet him at home (with grandmother and others waiting)!

It sounds like Yankee 180 team members are on a new journey and will make friends that will last a lifetime.

This will be my last entry due to the extreme amount of self absorbed comments that have been posted. I thought this forum was about the recruits. Not our personal insecurities. Remember, we are merely sitting around comfortably while our loved ones are dealing with probably the most intense experience of there lives. I have figured out that writing my son every two days will bring him more joy than posting worthless babble on the blog. The recruits judge their support not on how long a letter is , but how many times their name is called at mail call. We plan to make our recruit one of the most called names in the company.

Santana Jade said...

hi honey! i miss you soo much!! i write you every day and send pictures almost every time.. im so surprised and blessed that i am able to get to go to your graduation! im so proud that you made Drill Team!! wholey cow.. cant wait to see that.. maybe your bunk buddy will read these when he posts journals but i love you and cant wait.. Reecey says hi and i misses her daddy but knows where you are.. she says "bootap" and says your at work.. :)

Santana Jade said...

im sorry martooney.. i just read your post and im sorry if anyone posted anything that was offensive. i think that everyone is so excited about the unknown..
i think that it is great that these families are getting together.. im sure they know or have some idea of whats happening.. but all you can do is work with what you have.. its hard being away from your loved ones.. but if you create or have a support group.. it actually helps...

here for all the girls.. moms wives.. sisters.. fiances.. girlfriends.. etc..

coastiechicks.net is such an amazing support group.. its mainly blogs and is full of women and wives that are apart of coast guard.. they have helped me so much with questions and advice!!..

Anonymous said...

Not sure where martooney is coming from! But it was worthless babble. I see alot of support and prayers from this group for the Yankee's. Our son gets a letter at least every other day. That doesn't include the rest of his family. I think we would see more blogs if more people knew about it. It was only by accident that we found it and it's fun to share news and info. Sorry you don't see that martooney.

Joseph's Wifey said...

Martooney- sorry if you think this is just babble but for me I know this has made it alot easier with having a newborn and my husband being away it nice to have support that understands where your at and going through the same thing!!

J.R.'sGirl said...

I agree with you. This has helped me so much while I had been waiting to hear from my loved one. All the positive input made me feel so much better. It's a very hard time for both the family and their recruits. It's nice to talk to people who understand what your going through.
