To all of Alpha 182:

Congratulation on accepting the challenge of becoming a Coast Guard recruit.

I would like to share a factual story:

I was on a 140ft stern trawler in 1984 aprox 200mi south of Pascagoula, Ms and aprox 200mi West of Clearwater, Fl when I became seasick and ruptured my esophagus. This condition is fatal if not treated and presents a 50-50 chance of survival if treated within 12 hrs.

The Coast Guard dispatched a chopper from Clearwater and took me to a hospital where I was operated on.

I would not be here today if not for the grace of God and the dedication of our Coast Guard.

The other branches of our military may get the publicity, but OUR Coast Guard is the one that's there when we need them.

I pray that all of Alpha 182 will live up to the tradition and dedication of the brave men and women that have gone before them.

Zane's paw-paw

Hello ALFA 182. You all stay strong and keep after it. Somethings are easy and you can breeze right through, enjoy those times. When the difficult tasks come about, you may have to slow down and take it inch by inch, step by step. The main thing is to work together, help each other and make it to the end. Your at the half way point, you can , and will finish.

Zane, like your Mom said, not a day goes by without someone asking about you. GW, Georgia, Kevin, Brad, the Longs and Goins all inquired about you at Church yesterday. You are an amazing young man, surrounded by what sounds like some pretty amazing people.

Alfa-182 only 17 days and a wake up until graduation! Keep up the great job and remember, if you work as a team everything is possible. Hopefully your company earns an on-base liberty and you'll be able to call this Saturday.

SR Kasey Olson, MY SON (and all of ALFA 182)
the reservations are made and confirmed--I cannot wait to begin the road trip up to see you.
Saying that I am proud of you seems to fall short of how I truly feel, but for the lack of a better words I am, PROUD OF You and what you are doing. Grandpa sends you and ALFA 182 a BOO YAH....Keep it up folks...work together and together you will do it righteous.

Alfa-182~~SINGLE DIGITS RECRUITS!! Nine days as I type, and you will be on that Parade Deck as the newest Guardians of the Sea. Your time at the Cape will forever be ingrained as, believe it or not, a memory that always brings a smile to your lips as well as your hearts. You will be thankful for the trials, and challenges you faced there, for without them, you would not have become part of the Elite Shield of Freedom.

Continue to fight to the finish Alfa-182. End your time there as THE BEST, THE STRONGEST, THE ALFA!
Give your CC's a really good reason for all the I.T.they supplied you with. :o)

Daniel, again, your determination, your strength, and your faith has made me (how we say it here) 'wicked, pain in your chest proud'. I love you my son, my heart, my hero.

2 Chronicles 15:7~ But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded

I want to say hi to all the family and friends of Alfa 182 and hope that your child, spouse, and friends are doing well in their new duty assignments. Jack thank you for bringing us all together, in the pictures you took at graduation. Especially for those of us who didn't make it to the ceremony. I'm sure we were not the only ones whose child or loved one had to go far away and opted to meet him or her to spend days with them instead. We cherish those days before they left for thier tours. Your photos brought the graduation we missed to us. Good Luck to all we will always be connected by the summer of 2009 Boot Camp. God Bless to all
