Good Job X-Ray 181!

I went through this 30 years ago and it doesn't sound like much has changed.

Stay focused and don't get lazy. I made one mistake in training and paid the price. If it had been in a real situation, I could have killed someone.

Even with that, I have fond memories of bootcamp. Believe me, it stays with you! Everything you are learning has a purpose and you will need all of the things you learn at some point in your career.

I wish you all smooth sailing and look forward to your graduation.. Especially Recruit Olson.

I don't know if you can possibly comprehend how incredibly proud your families are of you! Keep your heads held high and continue to strive for the best. SR Boon, you are missed beyond belief and loved by all! Your dad and I are sooo proud!

Way to Go X-181!

To the Historian:

I appreciated you standing your ground, graciously, about writing what you felt last week. Yes, it was hard for many of us to read,..and yes, it did worry us at home. Kudo's to you, however, for keeping it raw and keeping it real. While it wasn't much fun to read, it certainly gave us a feel for the intensity and the stress that all of you were...and are...under.

While I can only speak for our home, I want you to know that we wait for absolutely any shred of information about our recruit. Your words and your recap of daily situations mean so much. We truly appreciate your effort.

SR Drewiske,
Hey bud, it sounds like things are starting to click for you and x-ray company. Keep it up Aaron and encourage everybody else in the company. Help your shipmates out, that is what this 8 weeks is about-TEAMWORK! There isn't anything that your company can't handle if ya all work together. How did the pistol range go for you and everybody else?
Should be some letters getting to you anyday now. Em sent another one today. Hope moms colored envelopes don't get you in trouble. She heard you were loosing weight, so she tried to bake and send the company a box of cookies. We caught her heading out the door. We had her read the letter again to show her they said no care packages! In a couple weeks we'll have the fresh ones for you guys.
Hey buddy, I'll sign off for now, and send a letter soon. Take care. Remember there isn't anything that they will throw at you that you can't handle. Remember your prayers.
Your Pal, Dad

Way to go everyone, you are doing it and are surely making it.

It is hard to believe how far you all have come in such a short time, just three weeks, although it might not seems so short for you all that are going through it but I promise you that these memories, good or bad will definitely in few short years turn into some of your fondest memories.
I know because I went through it and the memories I have of those days are still great.

I am glad and proud that my daughter is going through the same type of training and for the right cause, "Serving our country".
Just remember that it all makes you stronger and sharper for now and for the rest of your lives.
Hang tough SR Damvar!
We love you,
Baba and Moms

To all in X-ray 181:

Sounds like you are all starting to see the BIG picture. A machine truely is greater than the sum of its parts. I am proud of all of you for starting to "get it" and for stepping up and helping your shipmate. These are the lessons that your CC's are wanting you to learn and ingrain into your being a sailor. It brings back "fond" memories of Navy boot way back when. Once things start clicking, you will want to do even better and the pride will start to grow beyond belief. Strive for perfection and expect more. Be PROUD of yourselves as we are proud of all of you back home. Be proud to serve this great country that we live in and serve with honor.

SR Boon, make me proud!!!
We love you,
Uncle Scott & Aunt Missy, Boo and Em (our new dog)!!!!

Know that Grandpa and I are pulling for you. Great-grandpa Holmes is so proud that you are doing well, it brought tears to his eyes. We are all so proud and send you all our love.
Way to go on your blog, read through it and find that this is similar but more intense than when I went through basic. Being the company historian is a brutal task but you seem to be capturing the essence and the reality of the experience.
Way to go to the entire X-ray team ~ basic is all about teaching you to become a team and rely on each other when the chips are down and about expanding your family or origin to your family of choice.
It's tough coming from all walks of life with varying backgrounds thrown together and becoming a cohesive unit. Keep up the great work!

Great to hear your voice yesterday. If it weren't for the screaming in the background (lol), I would have thought you were at Easton. You sounded great.

Congrats on your Orders. It is one of the most beautiful places in the country. I am a little confused about the Tracen assignment - looking forward to more detail about that.

Can drive your car out there for you...and would ike you to reconsider the motorcycle gig. *haha*

What an adventure to take at only 19. Most people don't get that chance in a life time. I am so glad that you are over the crud but now it sounds like it is hitting X-ray unit. I hope you don't get it again. We like most parents are counting down the days to gradutation.

Chris (Muir) called from Ft. Hood. He said "Way to go Cuz!" He was talking with his Army buddies about you being in the Coast Guard. One guy made the comment that..."Coast Guard guys have to be really smart because they have to memorize EVERYTHING"! I bet all of you in X-Ray 181 would agree with that statement!

Keep up the good fight X-Ray! Last two...best two!

X-Ray 181 - it's hard to believe you are about to start week 7. Awesome job!

We are SR Webber's parents and had a call from him last night that he has been in the hospital all week with pneumonia. We don't understand why he has been in the hospital since Monday and we only now had a phone call. It sounds like he has been very sick - I understand his fever has been extremely high. Does anyone know if you can call the hospital to check on them? Thanks for any input - this is our first time going through boot camp and obviously we are extremely worried about him. Bryan is so upset to be away from his company and the thought of not graduating with everyone.

SR Webber's parents - Diana and Rob

Diana and Rob,
So sorry to hear this bad news. You really should not be timid, and call the Base Commander for some answers. Whoever answers the phone should be able to direct you and get you to the right person to talk to.
I would also find out if there are any shots that they have been given that may cause bad reactions.
I would insist on a thoughtful discussion with someone in charge!
Good Luck and God Bless.

I know you're looking forward to that day and to getting on to your new duty station. Congratulations on the Honor Guard selection! Hope I hear from you soon. Luv u mucho,

I am sending one out today though - with fun pictures that will make you laugh.

One week from today we will be checking into our Hotel - less than a mile from you! :-) We have been packed for a week! LOL

SR Z. Perry,

It was so good to get to talk to you on Saturday, you certainly had an eventful week being quarantined and then having all your wisdom teeth pulled. Glad you are feeling better and that it was just a reaction to the Small Pox Vaccine. I'm sure as the end is drawing near there are a lot of mixed emotions running through your head, reflect on everything you have learned and store it in your memory bank for it is priceless knowledge.
We are so excited to see you next Friday. I packed yesterday, dad got his uniform all ready and we are leaving tomorrow. He is so very proud of you as we all are. Finish this last week strong, as you are now a member of the elite!
We love you and miss you so much, see you in 8 days.
Love,

SR Webber - We sure hope you are feeling better by now. We are assuming so since we didn't get another phone call that you were out of the hospital. Everyone in TN has been praying for you!

We leave Memphis Wednesday morning and we cannot wait. Landon is beyond excited. He is counting down the days! Just so you know, he counted and by the time he sees you it will be 53 days since he last saw you.

Bryan, we are so proud of you! We know it has been a rough time for you - first the shin splints, then pneumonia but you fought through all of it. Your Dad and I are so proud to call you our son, our hero!

We love you and miss you,
Mom and Dad

XRay 181 - you are all awesome! We can't wait to see everyone at graduation!

We are so looking forward to being able to tour the base with SR Boon, meet as many of you as we can and congratulate you for a job-well-done!

Enjoy this last week and hold close to your heart, forever, what this means to all of us, your country and most of all, you!

It has been an honor for me to learn so much about the USCG and witness my nephew's journey.
